Was anyone else slightly disappointed this was a cookery program and not a hostage video?

Now I know he regularly gets a slating on here, but I actually like a lot of his TV stuff.
However, last night's programme was unmistakeably one of the worst hours of TV I've ever the displeasure to watch. I'm never getting that time back...

If anyone saw "You Have Been Watching" with Charlie Brooker last night, any lingering praise for Oliver would have gone out of the window!

Started reading this thread and haven't yet actually seen any structured reasons why people hate him? Personally I think his shows are very good and he has made a very successful career from being a very cook chef, but then maybe that is why people don't like him, because he is successful. I mean this is England and we do have to ridicule every successful person in this country.

No, I like him, but then, as has been said, women do. I don't know if it's the lisp, his passion about his cooking, the cheerful Cockney thing or what it is that people dislike, I just find him very watchable.

personally i like him

If that makes you all hate me... then good ;)

that said i didnt see last nights show. I did like Jamie in America tho, except for the way he called everyone bro

No real problem with him at all, however last nights clip made my skin crawl. I'll have a hunt on Youtube when I get home to see if I can dig it out.

I just find him very watchable.

Apart from this week, where as I said above, the show was an utter waste of time. Far too indulgent and not even one meal I'd think of ordering in a restaurant, let alone shelling out £20 for the cookery book to try at home. Hopefully the Spanish & Italian shows later in the series will be better.

Very impressed last night, especially the massive Paella. Bought the book and there's some cracking recipes in there, maybe just a few many photos. Still, half price in Tesco.

Will be cooking those Angel biscuits this weekend :)

I watched parts of it last night after the Bayern/Lyon game bored me into a slumber, and found it watchable as Spanish food is brilliant.

The only thing I found was he continually used ingredients that would be nigh on impossible to find on these shores. That 5 acorn ham, the fat from the ham as cooking fat etc.

If you read the book you can use the juice from tinned Ye Olde Oak hotdogs instead although they only have a 4 acorn rating.

Oliver has been fantastically successful.. The dyslexic poor essex geezer made good is a tad over done..His parent had plenty of loot.. but fair play he has chanced his arm and worked his nuts off.. Why is he hated by so many.. Well some would say over exposure in the media.. But I think its because he is a fat tongued ****.
