James Montgomery

Done like a kipper by his manager at Chesterfield today. Should have gone off with 30 mins left but no sub keeper on the bench. Had to carry on with his knee heavily strapped, hobbling around and unable to take goal kicks. Would probably have been able to come and attempt to claim the cross that led to Notts Co's winner in the 90th minute had it not been for the injury.

Was in goal for Gateshead at Wembley this afternoon as they lost 1-0 to FC Halifax Town in The FA Trophy final. Unfortunate with the only goal of the game as he attempted to clear an under-hit back-pass and the ricochet flew into the net:
Nice feature interview in the programme as well; he considered retirement when working his way back from injury a couple of years ago, rejoined Gateshead for a third spell 18 months ago and was one of their heroes on the run to the final, making crucial saves in penalty shoot-outs in successive rounds of the competition.

As plenty are saying on twitter, no way was it the keepers fault. Duff commentators.
