James Hillson - goalkeeper - formerly with Arse-nal?

Perhaps Hillson still has other potential employers that he is looking at - perhaps he is just wanting to see quite how we (the club) are before committing. Perhaps Maher et al want to see more of him before committing. Perhaps the two parties couldn't quite agree all the terms of a contract before today so a non-contract agreement was required so that Hillson goes on the bench today?
