It's a tired old story but it's a boring day at university. I cannot help but wonder what would have happened had we signed Izale Mcleod when we took him on trial. He's currently league 2 top scorer in a struggling Barnet side. After coming back from a long injury his only goal was to play football and obviously has the hunger and desire to do so. Would he have given us 'off the field trouble' like our current group of players? I doubt it.

On another note i'm looking forward to the game tonight! I've persuaded my housemates to watch it with me so I'll either be celebrating or recieving heavy banter for the next few days. UTB!

Not sure if Luggy didn't take him on coz he didn't rate him or he didn't think he could do a job in the system we play. Bearing in mind that Dicko has been up top on his own for most of the season with the ball pumped up to him I'm not sure McLeod would have been much use. You only have to look at Elliott Benyon for an example of that.

No doubt, if he had joined us he would have had neck ache for the majoirty of the season thus far.

I remember him missing a cracking penalty at Barnet, and thinking thank god we didn't sign him. Barker had him inhis pocket that day too, but since then he has gone on to be the divisions top scorer in the abscence of the Crawley twins.

Just shows what I know!

If we'd have signed McLeod we would still have been lumping it long to Dickinson, the only difference is we would have 24 unused strikers in the squad, not 23.

Speaking of unsuccessful trialists...I see that Andre Blackman who played for us at Needham Market pre-season made his debut for Celtic at the weekend (marking it with an own goal!). Now I know Scottish Football is pretty poor, but that guy looked absolute dross in that game pre-season.

We didnt sign McLeod because there was major doubts over his fitness at the time. Barnet's chairman paid for him to have an operation and specialist treatment and it still took a few months to get him fit after that. No one was doubting his ability but it was a gamble at that time.

Sturrock also said that he didn't look interested in the friendly which was what swayed him against signing him

From speaking to a Barnet fan last week I get the impression that he's looked like that for them lately. Bit of a Freddy Eastwood case in his last season here when he's either let it go to his head or he's fed up carrying a team full of players who just arent good enough, depending on your point of view.
