ITV Highlights

Thanks for that. Surprised more hasn't been mentioned about our first goal. Great quick thinking by Christophe and a superb finish by Laurent.

What a frantic set of highlights.

No idea what handball the chap on the other thread is talking about even though it's supposedly the most blatant one I'll see all season. Is it Christophe's pass or Luarent's first touch and finish? Or is he referring to Christophe putting the ball down.

The disallowed goal is pure lunacy as is the penalty. What a strange ref. Still, if the FA actually give a toss about how their respect campaign is working they can surely at least point out this as a success story. Two appalling decisions and no notable harassing of the hapless chap in black.

Two very good strikes for them, has to be said but probably the best hit of the three second half goals was Christophe's. I had no idea he was capable of that and it certainly explains why he's so willing to have a pop!

To be honest, we've done well getting away with our FA Cup lives intact. It's almost typical that a non-league team will have a few players have a blinder or catch a really sweetly struck shot and that's how upsets happen. Great tenacity to show the resolve to hit back and with a patiently worked goal.

Well, we've had our warning - we should really overcome them at the Hall.

Thanks for the link.

I'm in a small minority, clearly, but I can see why the goal was disallowed - Adam Barrett was in an offside position and was interfering with play (as he was directly in front of the keeper). But what was our penalty for??

Also, couldn't understand why we got the free kick for the first goal, but it was well taken - quick thinking. Also a great strike for the leveller.

When I heard Clarke had hit the woodwork for the penalty, I was surprised it was the post rather than the cross-bar or that he even kept it under the cross-bar. Once again, he gave away a stupid free kick in a dangerous position from which they scored. Will he ever learn? Don't give away pointless free kicks in dangerous positions, especially as we're not much good at defending! As for his distribution, I wasn't there, but the other posts on here suggest it was what we've come to expect.

Can see why Clarkes goal was disallowed, AB is standing right in front of the keeper. Whether it made a difference is debatable, but it makes a bit more sense now.

I can't really be bothered to verify this but wasn't Barrett to the left of the ball from Clarke's perspective and the keeper to the right?

Unless Barrett was blocking the keeper's view, I tend to think that sort of disallowed goal is very harsh

It's marginal, could have gone either way really. I don't think they would have complained had it been allowed, but by the Laws he probably was offside.

I've got to admit that harsh as it seems, it looks like the officials just about got it right with the disallowed goal. Barrett, in an offside position, makes a very small turn and move towards the ball as Clarkey fires it in. If he had carried on running away from the goal, or even just stood still, then I think the goal would have stood.

Re-watching the clip I remember now that the free-kick was given for hand-ball by the Telford player. I also realised then why the Telford fan was going on about the blatant hand-ball by JFC; he didn't realise that we'd been given a free-kick and was talking about JFC placing the ball before playing it to Laurent.

As for our pen; after numerous reviews of the clip I can't see the shove on Grant that I thought I saw from the terrace. I thought it was a stone-wall penalty but now it looks quite soft.

No, I saw the blatant hand-ball as well. Your lot probably wouldn't have seen it as you were down the other side of the pitch. I think it was Adams again who was getting into a good position on the right hand side, put a cross in and your left back literally put his left-hand out and almost caught the ball! I'm not sure why this wasn't part of the highlights, it was stonewall, as for your penalty, what was that all about!? I think the referee got a lot of decisions wrong on Saturday from both a Southend and Telford point of view.

The way I see it, we were both lucky to come away from that game and still be in the FA Cup draw, as your boys played poorly to say the least, and we upped our game and rode our luck. Good luck for the replay on the 18th though, hope the second meeting is as good as the first one. Cracking match. It's good for our boys to test themselves against a league team, that's the magic of the Cup.

The reason we were awarded a penalty was because your no6 did a double-handed push into the back of our player. It was right in front of me and a fully deserved penalty.

Right, I take it thats the reason your lad looked like he had barged our keeper in the side? The highlights didn't really show our lad push yours, and I was at the other end of the ground so couldn't really see. ITV really missed the full story of the match, it really was a great game and the replay really should be on TV. If the first game was anything to go by, the replay should be a cracker. As for the handball for our penalty shout, it was absolutely clear and stonewall, trust me. That's football and referees for you though. Good luck in the replay.

Been out working in Toulouse all weekend.......so I missed all the fun. When I got home on Saturday night I did my silly scenario of puting on the livetext, scrolling back to the start of the match, whilst hiding it from view......and then going through the match 'live'.
Like many others, the start of the second-half brought delight when we went '2-0' up and total confusion when they equalised 1-1. By the end I was so disorientated, I had to look at a couple of sites until I believed what had actually happened!
With the benefit oh highlights, I saw the extended ones on BW, the refereeing decisions on the the two incidents at the start of the second-half are more understandable. I thought that Revs missed a sitter in the first half, puting the ball wide of the right post, with the goal at his mercy..........I don't suppose that he'll mention that in this weeks blog!

I loved who they had a stab at Richie Foran needing to buck up his ideas along with the rest of the Darlo team!

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, Radio 5 also said that Southend went 2-0 up (although conspicuous absence of scorer, not surprisingly) so I thought the game was pretty well done and dusted. Was rather disappointed to see the final score - and bemused to see that we had at no stage been two up.

Pretty pss poor of the BBC to put out that team A has scored when in fact it's team B. I don't remember a correction either.
