Is Zoltan ever going to get a game?

DTS

The Business
The closest I have got to seeing Zoltan is when he had a cup of Bovril at half time before the Cheltenham game.

I do wonder if Tilly reckons he has got a bit of a duffer in Zoltan. I only ask as I was suprised we signed Garry Richards when we had just signed Zoltan altough I agree we needed another centre half.

Tilly says he wont be ready for six months but loads of clubs sign players from abroad and they play almost straight away.

Anyone got the inside track on The Beast from the East?

I saw him against Witham and didn't think that much of him - but then there were a few mitagating factors. But as Tilly has said he needs six months we need to be patient. He's been in some reserve games - not sure of the feedback from those. I think he will be on the bench before the season has finished!

He's supposed to have about 15 u-21 caps to his name. I know Hungary aren't up to much these days but he must have something about him to have done that. Not sure how he's going to get match fit in the reserves though, he might benefit from going on loan to a League 2 or Conference side to get some first team action.

not much point in him going on loan until he can speak english (which after watching the stiffs is taking a while!).

Long term signing.

If the likes of Guttridge, Bentley, Peter Clarke, Paynter all need time to adapt, so will Liptak.

From what I've seen of him (which isn't a lot, I admit) the guy has no chance of making it.

From a source who goes to every reserve game, I'm told he definitely has no chance of ever making it.

i've seen him for the stiffs and the jury is still out, communication is a massive issue at the moment but with a 3 year contract obviously T&B think that he is worth the investment. he is lightweight and gets himself in dodgy positions but then i think he is a decent passer and header of the ball and so with some work could make it

I suspect that Tilly wants him to settle as much as possible before he is released to the hounds of the Roots Hall crowd.

He has been sold easily a few times with a quick turn by a forward in the reserves I have seen him in. Hes getting there though although easily behind Richards, Clarke and Barrett for a while yet me thinks.

If I recall correctly he did score with a header against the Vitesse lot in pre-season at Roots Hall.

I am happy to go with Tilly on this one, give him time. Saw him pre-season and he had times where he showed that he really has something there, and times where his misunderstanding of the language and football style cost him big time. I think if Tilly and Brush can mould him, without him getting dispirited along the way, he could be a cracking signing.

Also with Barrett, Clarke and Richards having all been fantastic when played, we have no need ot call on Zoltan any quicker than need be.

His goal against the Dutch mob was fantasic!

deadly serious here, you may think im mad(probally!)

but for the record...

i think zoltan will turn out to be a fantastic signing.

when he signed, tilly never intedned to play him for at least 6 months. he's learning the english game at the moment. lets just wait and see.....he is tall and is the best passing centre back we have...

Thought Zoltan looked ok in the games I've seen him, he's big and should win his share of balls into the ball. He scored as well, however Clarke and Barrett were always gonna be first choice.

I'm sure once he's learned the lingo he'll get his chance.

and has filled out, he's a bit of a twig!

Jeez, if he is behind Barrett in ability I would say farm him out now :D

I think he was only signed because Tilly was promised an outstanding Goulash recipe. The only other plausable explanation would be a recomendation from Peter Taylor.
