Question Is Southend screwed?

Guest
I was wondering if the rumour are true that southend are screwed now? What going to happen with the Stadium? ? Who is the fault of this?

Shall we get rid of Geoffery King and Ron Martin? Will there be anyone who is interested to take over? I hope someone from Middle East will take over like Notts County. Well I hope all the fans will vote them out, and buy them out of the club like Barca who are fan owned club or Ebbsfleet?

The club will be better run by the fans not them two idiots!

You don't seem to understand. You can't just get rid of them like you might return a substandard product to the shops. He actually owns the club.

Blimey this is the first I've heard of this

If either of those "two idiots" are reading this I'd imagine they'll conclude that your post suggests otherwise.

Get it right gremlin, he said Them two not Those Two.

Perhaps Jimbo will be spearheading the takeover, Wiggy to take control and reinstall Daryl between the sticks.

I'm fully behind jimbo's campaign then. He may need to brush-up on his geography if he thinks Notts County is in the Middle East though. ;)

(I didn't quote them/those)

Inspired, as always.

Does anyone who is thinking of protesting have an earthly clue as to what exactly they think they're protesting about? Let's try to look at the things we're not happy about right now:

1. Geoff King's PR

Yes, OK, Geoff's PR skills are woeful. In other news today, the earth continues to rotate on its axis. What do you think protesting about his PR is going to achieve? His words on Rev's departure were badly judged, and perhaps an apology at some stage - at least to Alex Revell - would be in order.

But, really, is it worth protesting about?

2. The departure of Revell and Betsy

Objectively, folks, other than the club having overpaid for Revell, can anyone honestly say that either of these two looked like long-term first team players for SUFC? I can't. With a fully fit squad, these two start on the bench. Why not let them get first team football elsewhere - better for the players in question, better for us?

3. The club's lack of funds

This is a serious problem. But until such time as people have identified a Middle Eastern or Russian businessman with up to £10m to waste, what on earth does protesting achieve other than potentially making other creditors nervous and potentially hastening our club's demise?

Don't get me wrong, I'm very worried about next month's tax bill and I'd like Ron to explain how he's getting the money to pay for it. But what does protesting actually achieve?

* * *

When it was clear that Jobson was "fiddling while Rome burned" (in fact, it turned out that ill-health meant that Jobson had no energy left to devote to the club), I protested to try and get him out because he had to sell - and there were willing buyers in the wings. When Alvin Martin was sending us down to the Conference, I protested.

But what on earth is the point of protesting if you have no clue as to how you want this club to be carried forward?

Yours, in confusion,

Matt

Should the title of the thread not be 'Are Southend screwed?'?

That's fair enough.

What do we want?
More protests!
When do we want them?
Now!

Seriously, though, anyone wanting to protest should consider what Harry said about the protest that got rid of the Rubins in this post. Those who do not learn from the mistakes of history are destined to repeat them...

And one of the clear indicators of insanity is repeating the same action in exactly the same way but expecting a different result.

Ergo, anyone wishing to protest is mad :)
