Is it wrong to support another nation in the euros

Seaside Sailor

Schoolboy
I was born in rochford hospital lived in england all my life and supported england all my life, but my dad is spanish, every time england play spain i support england but as england are not there do you think it is wrong to support spain. I am going to do it anyway just wondered what everybody thought

I'm supporting Austria because my grandmother is Austrian. It also won't be a disappointment when they get knocked out after the first round. As an Englishman, I'm used to it :p

I'm supporting Croatia... because no matter how rubbish we were last night they were class

I'll support whoever I choose to have a bet on.

To answer Seaside Sailor's question - not wrong at all. Enjoy cheering on Spain to their quarter-final exit ;)

Over the years I have spent a lot of time working in Poland, Czech Republic, Russia and France - I also have many Dutch friends. So although I won't actually 'support' any of those sides I willl keep an eye open for how they fare and wish them all well. I am actually glad in some ways that we have been spared the embarrassment of another tournament 'hype and flop' next year . Might actually enjoy this one .

I know what you mean. USA 94 was a massively enjoyable tournament, maybe not having the 'pressure' of England being there was a contributory factor.

Romania beating Argentina 3-2 in that wonderful second round game helped too.

I'm not sure who I shall support - it won't be France or Italy though. I think that Croatia will win it. I can't believe that Germany are favourites.

Two big factors for Germany in terms of the betting market:

i) weight of money
ii) it being in Austria/Switzerland means it's almost a 'home' tournament for them

I won't be backing them at prices as short as 6/1 though.

If government figures are correct, you can bet your life that there'll be approximately 85,000 people supporting Poland, but knowing this government the real figure is more likely to be 150,000 !

My moneys on Spain...

Technically the most gifted side there in my opinion with the likes of Torres, Villa, Iniesta, Joaquin, Xavi, Ramos and a natural born leader in Puyol and have a wealth of top drawer keepers to call upon, unlike England.

Cohesions always been a problem, but i have a feeling they'll do well at this tournament... It's also Aragones' last in charge, something to spur them on that little extra as he's well thought of.

Always had a bit of a soft spot for the Netherlands, so I'll be following their progress with interest, although not actively supporting them.

I'm going to support someone else. I'm tempted to even get a shirt. I don't want one of the big boys though... I'm thinking Sweden or Croatia at the moment.
