iPhone Music - How to Avoid Losing it?

The Original Tribal Chief

Head of the Table ⭐⭐🦐
I recently had to upgrade from my old iPhone 12 to a new iPhone 16. When I transferred my data from the old phone to the new one, all of my music (about 400 MB) successfully appeared on the new phone. However, when plugging the phone into my PC and connecting to iTunes, I lost 98% of it, including music that I had purchased from Apple. It took me several hours to reupload - incredibly annoying. Does anybody know why this happens and how to avoid it? Apple forums are about as much use as Emile Acquah in front of goal.
