One pronounced feature of our last 12 matches (our least successful spell of the season) has been the undisciplined performance of the players.

In those 12 matches, we have only failed to pick up 3 or more yellow cards twice and the total is 38, more than twice the average.

Our opponents in those 12 matches only picked up 6 yellows (and of course Colchester's red) between them so it can't be attributed to over-fussy refereeing.

I'm afraid that comes from top down. How can you expect the players to behave, when the manager is screaming at referees ?

What was your view re: the bookings on Tuesday night Mick?

I thought he was quite inconsistent, the Crewe players delayed the taking of the first penalty for quite a long time while they moaned at the ref and linesman (none of them were booked for this), whilst he seemed to go a bit card happy when we protested about the distance he had walked the wall back.

Worrall was always going to get booked for re-measuring the wall in that way. It's pretty much mandatory. As for the other two and the Crewe players, without knowing what was said and how it was said, I couldn't comment.

But yes, he was inconsistent in a number of ways.

Sorry Mick, are you saying then that in those 12 games the "score" in bookings is 38-6 ? If so, THAT is an amazing statistic, and something we should be thoroughly embarrassed, nay ashamed about as a club.

A very interesting thread.

I don't suppose you have a breakdown as to what categories those bookings fall?

eg Foul-play v Dissent

I'd also be interested in (but don't expect you to have this information) how the number of bookings compares for each formation. Do we, for example, get more bookings and red cards if we play 5 at the back?

Yep, afraid so. Millwall, Doncaster, Coventry, Bradford, Port Vale and Crewe had one each. The other six teams had no yellows.

They should be more embarassed about the brand of football they are playing, reading the threads tells me its pretty woeful.
