For all fans of Goater ( and buyers of his book ) you might be interested in an interview he did with "The Independent " yesterday . Apart from a picture at the top taken after Brisol City game , not ONE mention of his season at Southend . Really disappointed but I guess thats the difference between Stan and him .

the bloke is a legend.. cannot believe you are knocking him, he has showed time and time again, that he loved playing here, and had time for everyone who wanted to talk to him

He may have spoken about us at great length but it was cut out before it went to print.

I couldn't care less either way. I've seen plenty of interviews with Stan were Southend United weren't mentioned.....

You seem to forget that, for much of the media, Collymore's career began at Nottingham Forest.

Shaun just wound down his career here, he will always been known as a Man City player.

He isnt going to mention us in every single interview he does, nor will the interviewer care what he has to say about us.

i agree, he might have said something but they just edited it out.

he a quality player and a real character.

as the great goat once said 'love it, love it.... love it.. love it...love it!!!!!!!

Well everytime I hear about him he was signed for us by Barry Fry !!! Gets me so mad....

Agree that he only ended his career here and I often ask myself if Stan hadnt messed up his career and had gone on to gerat things as he should have - would we still get the odd mention???!!!

Both great for us as a club in my opinion...

IMHO - Stan achieved a lot more than the goat in his career - Always seems to mention us even though he was here less time

Don't you have better things to do with your life?

Guess you could say that about most of the posts and posters on here - why has this one provoked this informative response ?

I don't really see why it matters if a former players acknowledges the club or not. Not to mention the fact that a journalist is likely to ask a host of questions and then write an article from a few answers. He may well have talked about SUFc with great enthusiasm but the hack thought it was too dull to write about.

This has to be one of the most stupidest threads I have ever seen on here. Blaming the Goat for the way the interview appeared in the Independent!! Believe it or not they do not reproduce his interview word for word and newspapers have been known to twist things around.

I was lucky enough to meet the Goat at the recent book signing and you could not have wished to have met a nicer person. He took time to speak to everyone there and even thanked me for my support last season. The Goat is a legend and I wish more Pro Footballers would conduct themselves like him. The game would be far better off for it.

stupidest thread on here ? Have you taken a look at some of the others .
sorry I dared to mention something I thought might be of interest to people who didnt see the article . when asked for his best momentS in Fooball - I stupidly thought winning the title in his last game might just have crept in along with the other high points

guess he would mention every club he played for in his book and be pleasant at a book signing - it sells books !
