We lose Saturday and we don't make any real gains in the transfer window do you think Tilson should call it a day or we sack him?

Does it matter? Tilly is not in control. Ron is the man who is in control. I genuinley believe if Tilly had the correct resouirces available to him then we wouldnt be in this position. I think the players we have actually have a lot of respect for Tilly and want to play for him but when you operate under the constraints that he does I would defy anyone to be able to come in and do a better job.

Like Wenger with Arsenal and Tilson with Southend, I feel that given more time both will bring more good times to there clubs. Even if we got relegated, I would back Tilson to have 50% better chance than the next manager who comes in, to take us back up.

Use your heads here, the chances that we get a crap manager after Tilson are very big.

Ups and downs, promotions & relegations are a fact of life in football. The reason we love it so much when times are good is bacause of how much it gets us down when its bad. This is the lot of the average football fan. Changing the manager might give a small temporary boost but it won't last, it rarely does. Look at how often a manager gets the sack, 'caretaker manager' comes in, wins 3 games in a row, gets the job permenantly then hardly ever wins another game & gets sacked 6 months later.

Stability is what we need. No one likes it the way it is now but with the current ownership / management team I personally believe we will maintain a higher average position as a club than under any previous encumbants. It won't always be good, but it will be good a lot more often than it has in the past.

i think you also need an option which states........

chairman sells/puts best players on transfer list, doesnt spend any money strenthening a squad that already is clearly not upto standard, lets manager train through preseason with a horrendously week, understrength squad, but as soon as he puts his money were his mouth is and backs the manager to produce a squad on an even kill with 1st Division standard, then the manager should be given about 18 months to then gell the 5/6 players he so badly needs/have needed since the end of last season, then judge manager on results and not try to clearly be making him a scapegoat in this hole affair

can you add that option please scott?

Indeed mods could you amend please?

I reckon this season is a one off, cant see us having a bad one like it again..Its unlikely we wont have a handful of new players next season and its very unlikely we will have as much suspensions and injuries in the squad too imo

spot on.....

Ok
Its easy to get emotional and carried away, but lets face it, apart from the relegation season (which we all knew was going to happen), this is the FIRST crisis that we've had to go through under Tilson and Brush.
It's going to be a test of charactor for them, and although I feel the honeymoon period is well over, I dont honestly see anyone else comong in and fixing this by the end of the season..we just dont have the resources to throw at it.
Give him more time, for better or for worse...he's still the best manager we could hope for, even if we are in Div 4.
For what its worth, I think he will go on his own doing..he is a man of honour, but I thought it was going to happen before Christmas.

I too do not think Tilly will ever be sacked by the club. If the time comes when he thinks enough is enough, I believe that he will resign and go of his own accord.

I have continually said that I don't think Tilly should go, and I am still of that mind, but something is not adding up - listening to the interview with Ron last week, he was adament that funds were available for players to be brought in, the week before, Tilly had said, although not in so many words, that he was frustrated at not being able to buy players on a permanent basis - what's the truth here? Still no players signed (barring JFC who was a done deal) and with the squad diminishing by the hour it seems through injury, why are no new faces appearing?

It's easy to speculate, as many of us have, that the fund are not there, but Ron openly said last week that there were funds available - I guess the people who say we don't have the resources are basically saying Ron is not being totally honest.

Tilly hinting that it was the chairman who was perhaps being cautiout with the purse strings the week before, but surely the proof of the pudding is in the eating - I simply cannot believe that Tilly would want to be in charge of a squad so low on genuine quality, let alone numbers.

I don't know what to believe, you can draw conclusions, but no discernable truth, and looking at where we are now in the season, there is absolutely no point in sacking Tilly now as no incoming manager would be able to do anything in the transfer window.

That's not to say, for me anyway, that his position should be concrete - I don't think anyone's job should be, as otherwise, we would have little to motivate us or for us to strive towards. Although hampered by a terrible injury crisis, Tilly has still got to take responsibility for the players he has brought, and more importantly, how they perform on the park, and I think this will be the first time ever you will get to see what kind of manager he is, and how much mental strength and character he posesses.

Exactly, who on earth could do much with what was on show last night? Tilson has made some massive blatant mistakes but who else could work with the handcuffs that Ron Martin puts on him?
