The OG King
could bring back one player from the last 10/15 years for tomorrows match (and that match only), who would it be and why?

I know there will be a few that would automatically say Eastwood, but would our current strikers have a problem scoring if they had some service to latch on to? On that basis, I would love love to bring back Gower for tomorrow. I was thinking JCR to run at the Ashley Cole but he never really done the easy bit by getting the ball into the box did he?

Other contenders were Maher to replace Ally Mac, Spinner to replace Barrett, Mulgrew to replace Herd (who has done well for us!!)

Any other opinions?

Probably Freddy. He, along with Gower and JCR, gave us the class to outplay Manchester United 26 months ago. If we get another impossible result tomorrow night it won't be because we outplay Chelsea, it'll be because we outfought them. Nothing wrong with that at all, but I think Eastwood's class would have given us that x factor which this squad (Laurent aside) lack.

Dave Cussack, CH if unavailable

Joe - bites yur legs Kuerilla [spellling ?] CM

Stan! The best player ever to pull on a Southend shirt. Pace, power & most of all ability to scare the poo out of genuine world class players. In other words, a proper match winner!

Got to go with Gower on the wing, Sodje in defence and Collymore upfront. We can all dream.

David Crown back in the day wouldn't go un-noticed either.

got to be Stan because you could just give him the ball on the halfway line and he'd run and run at the defenders causing panic. He'd probably be a cert for a goal as well.

John (Joe, Killer) Kurila, or Cusack, not exactly the last 10/15 years did not pick up on the terms and conditions of response.

Probably Eastwood if he could replicate his Man Ure free kick.

Eastwood cannot seem to hack it a CC level, or maybe the training, so on achievement alone it would have to be Stanley for me

There genuinely is no contest, it would have to be Stanley Victor Collymore.

Nobody with that kind of talent, before or since, has ever pulled on a Southend shirt (since I've been watching them of course) and he would have just about every attribute you would need against a team like Chelsea.

Carvallho and Terry would be in for a very uncomfortable evening at Roots Hall if he was to be in our starting line up, that's for sure.

Would be good......

Surely Collymore, Eastwood, lets have Gower back for one game, Spinner to settle things at the back, I would like Sawyer in the middle plus Billy Best and Bill Garner at his prime on the bench to come on and poach a goal or two! Awsome

Sorry 'One Player' ~ then is Stan the man?

Sadly, as it can only be one player, I would have to pass on the pleasure of seeing Stan the Man terrorise Chelsea - I would have to plump for a commanding, organising Centre Half, probably Spencer Prior.
