If you were Guttridge....

SUBBlue

Manager
...wouldn't you be a bit ****ed off?

I thought Guttridge played well against Cardiff, enough to retain his place in the side
However, Macca has walked straight back in the side after the ban.

Tilly has always taken the approach that he sticks with players who earn their place in the side etc..

Just a thought..

(BTW, I reckon both players are brill!!)

I take your point and am a big fan of Tilly's "player in possession" policy, but how would you feel if you were Macca and you hadn't put a foot wrong only to be dumped for the prodigal son returning from his self-inflicted exile at Orient?

Methinks Gutts must both play out of his skin and bide his time.

Guttridge did well, and although he was in the team, he shouldnt expect to walk back into the side. McCormack's the regular therefore gets back into the team.

Glad macca got his palce back, one good match does not make up for everything gutts has done wrong in my eyes, and one game suspension does wrong all the right Macca has done

Cant leave McCormack out just because the team won, he has been instrumental in our improved performances. That would be cutting our nose of to spite our face.

If I was Luke Gutridge I'd be feeling guilty that I had ponced about in the middle of the park for the first half of the season and left my team bottom of the table.

Thats a bit harsh, you cant really blame the fact we were bottom of the table just on Guttridge!

I think Gutts has got along way to go before he can dislodge McCormack form the side who has been superb since he joined us, but if Gutts does really want his place back then the competition can only be good for the team.

Another point as to whether Gutts should have been kept in as it was a winning side:

McCormack is there to win the ball and put in challenges, as such is prone to bookings, is it then fair to keep him out of the side for doing what he is there to do ?

I'd be thanking my lucky stars that the club didn't call his sh!tty agent's bluff and let him go. I'd also be thanking the tolerant fans and thanking God that I remembered to take my head out of my bum.

I'm sure that Guttridge will get his chance again soon enough once Maher's picked up his usual 5 yellows ban for b1tching at the ref.

McCormack set up Bradbury's goal to settle our nerves. I don't think Tilson's judgement can be questioned. Luke will get his chance.

macca deserved his place back tonight, he wouldnt have lost it if it werent for him being suspended and by the sound of things he had a decent game!

Gutts just needs to get his head down, work hard and be patient, his chance will come again.
Who would have thought Barret and Clarke would be back as our first choice centre backs a few weeks ago

McCormack seemed to do well for the goal and as Jam_man says his suspension was a result of doing his job well. In fact, it was great to see someone hitting the byline and pinging the ball across. Gutts has taken the first step towards regaining lost credibility but he's going to need more than that to oust two goalscoring midfielders

Good point but go back a bit further, Gower against Cov, JCR and Hunt against WBA, all these blokes scoring since Christmas. This is probably what we were missing earlier in the season

Yeah and brilliantly too, what a great ball from a very difficult position. Does he ever stop running?
