If we insist on aiming for a target man,

Darryl's Love Child
I know that Drewe can do no wrong with most of you but lets face it he aint that great in the air, has a poor first touch and can"t hit a cows............. in front of goal. Last year he was down the pecking order and was on the virge of a transfer request, this year he is part of the 1 goal from 5 games duo up front and still gets the usual full of enthusiasm reports but little else. Am i missing something? Last night i thought Dudders showed great movement off the ball actually showing Kev where he wanted the ball put, this boy"s brain needs an accomplice on the same wavelength not Drewe elbowing the centre half in a scramble for a ball that has just collected snow on the way down. The new lean and mean Tes could be just the man, but i suppose iv'e signed him so i will play him Wayne Gray and old white boots will get the nod again. Finally got to say Bart is an improvement on Flavs in the air but can"t help feeling what we have gained there we are definately losing on general quickness on the ground, as don't recall many shots going under Flahavan's body.

I fully agree with you there, your summarisation of Broughton is spot on, Dudfield looked like a striker last night, for the first time this season we had a striker creating chances, The thing that amazes me is that when Bramble came on he won loads more headrs than Drewe, I would like to see Bramble and Dudfield startthis friday.

That's probably got something to do with Darryl being shorter and therefore being lower to the ground, meaning that fewer shots can go under him.

You're correct about general quickness on the ground as it is obvious that it would take a taller keeper longer to get to the ground than a shorter one. I'd still stick with Bart.

It's tough to try and figure out who our best strike-force is, as Tilly isn't really looking to radically change it. He seems to prefer to change one striker, rather than giving a new partnership a chance. Tes looked sharp and effective when he came on on Tuesday, but playing 90 minutes at a decenet tempo isn't something that I've ever seen him do. In my opinion Dudfield should be the first name on the team-sheet, as he looks a cut above all of our other strikers right now.

Same here. Bramble finally looks like he's got something to prove. Drewe on the other hand doesn't look like he'll ever score goals (check his stats out) and for me, giving 100% doesn't impress me at all - that should be the minimum effort you put in. He took a whole season to score one league goal last year and I expect a bit more from a striker than that. Being Drewe Broughton must be like turning up to work every day, being consistently crap at your job and yet still getting a standing ovation every time you walk into the canteen.

Have to agree regarding the strikers.  I thought Bramble looked like a man who wanted to win his place back and not the disinterested, lazy bloke we used to see from time to time last season.  On that performance alone I would give him and Dudders a few games to see what kind of partnership they can forge.

Not convinced on the Bart vs Darryl issue though.  I feel a lot happier with Bart in goal purely from the point of view that we don't look like we are going to conceed from any set piece around the box.
