Husbands Earns Vale Deal

Kent Shrimper

Mike Reid
Football Forum Husbands

Vale's goal hero Mike Husbands has earnt himself a new deal at Vale until May. Husbands has scored two crucial goals in two games one against Wrexham in the FA Cup and a late equaliser against Swindon. Fans were shocked to see him left out the side last week and out the starting line up Saturday after his great display against Wrexham and fans will be delighted to see him remain at the club.

The pacey striker has shown quality since his arrival and indeed is seen as the key to what Vale have been missing since the departure of Steve McPhee at the end of 2003-04 with his pace up front to aid Lowndes and Constantine.

Always liked Husbands. He was a phenomenal talent who just needed some incredibly intensive training on his shooting, passing and overall application. I am glad to hear that he and Constantine are 'living the dream' together at Vale Park. I bet they are recounting stories about Drewe Broughton's dressing room antics as I write.

fair play to michael, i for one never thought he'd be playing in the same division as the blues when we released him, seeing as corbett went to margate i would have thought based on the times i'd seen husbands that he'd be playing at a level no higher than the conference.
good luck to the guy though!

Hello Tilly!

Good luck to him - he seems to have settled there. Let's hope he doesn't score against us on Saturday though (if he plays)...
