HT Youth Players

So after a season of the new youth players setup, it is now possible to promote players to the 1st team. Has anyone had any luck with this?

I promoted one fairly average player just to see what he was like. At best he was a 2.5 star defender (with solid form). I was rather disappointed with his ratings after being promoted and it makes me think that most of my other players would be pretty poor.

The player had a TSI of 0 and was disastrous in everything except defending and playmaking which he was abysmal.

Anyone else tried promoting anyone and did they have any luck?

I have a 6.5 star winger to look at later in the season. I think the theory is that anything less than 5 stars won't be much good to you.

Haven't promoted any yet as my early ones were poo.

I've only had one player reach 5 stars, and was then told that he'd reached his maximum.

I'll probably promote him out of curiosity once he turns 17.

BTW I need a youth friendly if anyone is interested.

I tell a lie, someone has accepted my challenge. I've give you a game in 3 weeks time if you fancy though.

However if anyone fancies joining a youth league, our one is desperate for an extra team. We've only 7 at the moment.

i have a goalie that pulls 5.5* a game, hopefully he'll turn out to be useful... mind you, i think its going to be pretty random tbh

Promoted a guy who regularly got 3 stars as a striker. He turned out to have weak scoring and weak defending with everything else disastrous. He had been a doubtful young player.
