HT Transfer Market

Matt the Shrimp

aka Harry Potter
Has the bottom totally fallen out of the HT Transfer Market, especially for midfielders?

I've just picked up a 24 year-old extra-terrestrial playmaker... for £722,000.

OK, so his wages (at £50K per week) are on the lumpy side - but provided I'm getting gates around the 40K-50K mark, then not beyond the pale for me at all.

I bet the bloke who sold the guy to me will be crying into his linguine tonight... he paid £2.1m for him only 4 months or so ago.

Answers on a postcard... I sure don't have them.

Can't say that I've noticed the prices dropping on the YPs. Sounds like I'm not in a great market. My only transfer out was a solid PM and he went for a decent amount as far as I was concerned.

I've noticed the prices getting cheaper also Matt, but it only really seems to be affecting the players with high wages, at least from what I've seen.

No doubt there's benn a downturn but like any economy it affects everyone the same.

My only concern now is that it will make the game very difficult for new players as gate receipts and sponsor income becomes a lot more important with the fall in potential training profits. Training is really the only way for a team to get going due to the lowered membership for new teams and the astronomical stadia costs, it will now take ages for a new team to get going and could put new players off.

But sufcintheprem makes the good point that YPs are still going for great money. I sold a 18 year old (not 17, but 18 - and wk 3 or 4 at that!) solid winger for £235K, and bought an extra-terrestrial PM for only just over three times that amount.

Go figure, as they say. Not that I'm complaining, mind!

its all supply and demand.

A lot of people picked up on the idea of training PM's, so now there is an abbundance of good ones, hence they sell for less..
Simple GCSE economics

Just had this one popped and ready to sell
