Not forgetting Accrington Stanley v Wimbledon tonight.

The agony of choice! :'(

Been watching it now for one hour, live build up,on German free tv.
every German,so far wants Liverpool to win...people like Campino, who is the lead singer of Germany biggest band, Toten-hosen....his mother &sister are English..he is a well know STAR here in Germany, who gets up the Germans noses, because he supports English teams and England...he is at the game...also Boris Becker has written,..come on Liverpool,he really wants Liverpool to win

It's that greatest of all occasions, a European Final Night.

The UEFA Cup has always been a competition coveted by the great and the good, so when two giants of Europe meet in a final played at a ground the size of Brunton Park, then all eyes are focused.

Trawling back through the memorable finals, it's possibly surprising that Sevilla have the better record in this competition.Indeed, winning it 4 times in the last 10 years, including the last 2 finals against Benfica and Dnipro Ibuprofen. Not forgetting their sound thrashing of Steve McLaren's hapless 'Boro In 2006.

Spain and, furthermore, Italy have had plenty of success of the last 30 years or so, with the mighty Real Madrid chipping in with two final successes on the trot in the 1980's, including defeating that well known side, Videoton!

Still, it's not all been about Spain and Italy. We've had our succeses, as well, though mainly when it was over 2 legs in the 1970's.

Who can forget Ipswich's famous nailbiter against AZ Alkmaar and Liverpool's twin triumphs in those early days of black & white TV & Party Sevens. Which brings us to the very first final, when England ruled the world and Tottenham beat Wolves, thanks in part to a Martin Chivers double at Molineux.

Still, it's all about the here and now and I for one will be cheering on the Reds, as they bid to become the first English side to win it since Chelsea, three years ago and before that, their very own victory against Deportivo Alaves* in 2001!

YNWA!

*Whatever happened to them.

A good first half from the Scousers. At the moment it's theirs to lose.

Liverpool's to throw away after the first half, which is exactly what they did second half. Well beaten in the end.
