Can anyone who has stayed in Cardiff the night before give a recommendation for any decent hotel close to stadium. Not the burnt out one though

The Cardiff Marriott is just a stone's throw away from the stadium. We stayed there for the 2004 LDV Final; can recommend ...

The Jury's Inn hotel is quitye a good hotel to stay in. Less than 5 minutes away from the city centre and the stadium. I stayed there for the LDV this yr.

Sandringham Hotel just up the road gave us breakfast included, were very friendly and only about £20 a head in shared single rooms.

Highly recommended. Just don't tell them who recommended you

There is a good chance that any hotel within 10+ miles of the ground will probably already have been taken by all the other fans of teams attending their playoff matches

I wouldn't be so foolish as to tar my reasonably good reputation!

All I'm saying is that I don't think they expected a group of 20 year olds when they took a booking from a teacher. That said, they had a door porter on duty all night and were pretty well humoured when we rolled in too.

Is anyone really going to be able to get a hotel there, if your staying on the Saturday night as well as the Friday? There are 2 other playoff games over the bank holiday weekend as well....

If you can't get a hotel in Cardiff, I've also been recommended a golf course a bit down the motorway fom the city centre. Looked massive from the road and should be able to get rooms there. No idea what it's called though.

Could always just plan a Shrimper invasion of some nearby place. Bristol/Bath for instance.

we stayed at the holiday inn cardiff north for both ldv finals. its about a 5/10 minute cab journey to town centre and is relatively easy to book becasue everyone seems to think its miles away. both times we booked within a week of the final so this would be recommended. also has a bar thats open till the last man is standing which we appreciated at the time but didnt in the morning! All in all its highly recommendable. out of interest the only reason why we arnt staying there this year is becasue we cant get the friday off work:(

We stayed both years in the Novotel which is 10 mins walk from the South end of the stadium. I got the impression from the quick search I did that hotels are very hard to come by this year. I blame those pesky Sheffield Wednesday fans!

I stayed at the Marriot last year, which was very nice. Not too far away from the stadium or more importantly, a range of pubs.

Stayed in Bristol twice for boh the LDV finals. Quailty weekends and only bout an hour / hour and half drive to the ground after where you can park in the park and ride. Be careful though this year someone moved the signs around and we was driving around for ages.

Why not pull a local scrubber? She'll put you up for free and all you'll need to splash out is a prescription for antibiotics from your GP when you get home to shift the rash!

And if you're very lucky she'll even give you the cab fare back to the City centre the following morning.
