Hooper and Revell - Lack of understanding

Ayrshire Blue

The Custard Splat
Didnt really seem to have an understanding of each other today.

I thought Hooper played very well and looks alot stronger on the ball and can hold off defenders now.

He had a great partnership at Hereford that played virtually every week.

Hooper and Revell have never played together before and it noticed.

I honestly think revell is worse than matt harold. Terrible touch cant head cant shoot and is a waste of 150k. Hooper could turn out to be a decent player

Lets not rip into Revell yet. He's not had a proper run in the team, give him until January next season and then I think we'll be in a better place to judge.

Both pants..

Hooper has found his level which is L2 cos he ain't gonna cut it in L1 on todays showing.

Revell won a couple of headers, flicks etc, but not good enough!

Revell was bad... as he has been every time I have seen him, and Hooper was worse.. today was like watching us over xmas.. abject !

How can anyone say anything different after today - quite simpy one of the worst performances I have ever seen against cack opposition..

I hope the playoffs can lift us because Donny will hammer us otherwise

I agree the performance was shocking but we rested 4 of our regular starters and no one wanted to get themselves injured

* I am not convinced that revell is 100% fit and he has got soome record at this level so I am going to wait until end of the year to judge him
* Hooper is full of confidence and has scored a lot of goals but is simply not good enough. L2 is his level undoubtely and 200K plus would be enough to sell him

Thought neither did anything to warrant a starting role next week, and surely that was the point of this exercise? Yes, it was important to rest players to minimise the chance of injury and suspension, but it was also an opportunity for others to say to the boss I deserve to be involved - and quite franky, neither of them did that.

I didn't expect them to have an understanding with each other as they have only met each other this week no doubt, but the basics weren't even there for me. Revell has shown in the previous games he can be an asset for us, but maybe it's me, Hooper has done absolutely nothing in the entire time he has been with us to say he is worthy of us keeping him.

He scored a decent number of goals for Hereford, and I only hope they come in with an acceptable offer for him in the summer.

Thought Revell & Hooper looked very poor and virtually dismissed any chance of them grabbing a play off position. The 2nd division must be bloody awful if Hooper can score goals at will at that level.

I dont want to pre-judge Revell but based on what I have seen I would rather have Ldn Fatso upfront.

He reminds me of myself upfront. I will basically run about a lot and win a few headers but I have no creativity at all and I snatch at every chance presented to me.

I can't work Revell out at all. Brighton fans loved him yet I've seen nothing to suggest why. He's full of running and good in the air, which is eerily similiar to another player on our books, but as yet, no end product - also strangely similar!

The one where Hooper was pants

That doesn't make for a very short list. In fairness to Hoops he certainly looked sharper, stronger and trimmer and had a much better second half. I'd like to reserve judgement as he may well work better alongside Barney or Walker.

Revell needs more games before a final judgement. Certainly strong in the air.

Hooper was very good, some very nice flicks and touches, and runs in behind the defence. The problem he had is that everyone else was awful!! We finally brought Barney on and he took Hooper off!! Stupid!! Nobody passed to Hooper, Revall and Kanu were terrible

Hooper was different class if you cared to look. Lovely little lay offs and awareness, unfortunately he was playing with a poor version of Drewe Broughton!

I agree.....

Revell should of come off rather than Hoops.

Kanu didnt play well either. Atleast when Gower got the ball when he came on, he went on some surging runs to worry the defenders and got some crosses in. Kanu seemed to want to just pass it back to Mulgrew.

As i've said before, revell needs to be played on the right hand side just behind the front two, pushing up from the midfield. both he and Hooper hsvnt played together and niether have had a run in the team for a lenghty period of time. I still feel they have a part to play in the squad, as does Charlie mac..remember, we need squad players too. I believe our starting line up for next season will be Barnard and Hoops, with Walker filling in when Barnard gets injured. Times up for Harrold as Revell offers more options, and Charlie Mac needs to go on loan to get first team action.
