Manager
how did we all do this week lads Birri FC won away 1-0 and gained ground on 2nd spot

Ben's Barmy Army - Birri FC 0 - 1
4433 spectators had come to Howarth Knowl this cloudy day. Bens started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Johnson - Monk, Bale, Andrews, Bashir - Mansel, Jorna, Sheard, Fox - Osterman, Kerrigan.

Birri had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Krishnan - Ward, Regan, Breuilly - Camden, Rushton, Humphries, Howell, Cathcart - Pownall, Perry.

Birri clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, using their inadequate talent for it. Seemingly due to lack of experience, Matthew Howell needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. Some quick foot work on the left side of the field in the 13th minute left Birri´s John Pownall completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 1. Bens held the ball, with a clear 56 percent possession rate.

Bens´s Sam Kerrigan made a successful breakthrough attempt in the game´s 46:th minute and should have levelled the score, but clipped it over the bar. Birri will have to do without Alfred Humphries for a time due to a bad foot injury. He was substituted by Ryan Hudlicka. Bens held the ball, with a clear 57 percent possession rate.

Most important Bens player was Scottie Bashir. Michael Bale on the other hand, had a terrible day. Birri´s best player was Lee Breuilly. Ryan Hudlicka on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 1.

Crayford took the lead in the 5:th minute of the game by 1 to 0, as Ulrik Danielsson elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Neil Sangster squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 13th minute, asserting the lead to 2 - 0. The referee showed Athleticos Brandon Hathaway the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Due to a severely mistimed tackle,Alfredo Cairós Barreto spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Crayford lead up with 3 - 0. John Southin finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. The structure of the game started to change as Crayford decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. In the games 33rd minute Athletico´s Dean Ewing fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Dean Ewing for taking a dive. Roger Mocarski of Crayford received a yellow card in the 35:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Halftime score was 6 - 0. Crayford held the ball, with a clear 91 percent possession rate.

Crayford put their lead ahead another goal as Brian Gillon struck home the 7 - 0 goal, after an attack from the left setting him up unmarked with the keeper. By then Brian Gillon was a three time scorer - a hat trick! Crayford put themselves up 8 - 0 when Alfredo Cairós Barreto broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Crayford lead up with 9 - 0. Neil Sangster finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and GNH Shrimper Arena saw a crowd turnout of 13886. United had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Tegner - Adolphus, Leinen, Anthony, Daniels - Roozekrans, Rolands, Mansbridge, Flanagan - Gazier, Harris.

Offices started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. They fielded: Ram - Purvis, McArthur, Stevens, Summers - Dupre, Cuttler, Leighton, Mohan - MacFall, Fischer-Lloyd.

A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Offices´s Dean McArthur was able to shove the ball in. 0-1. United´s Jackie Rolands made a successful breakthrough attempt in the game´s 22nd minute and should have levelled the score, but clipped it over the bar. Offices came close to extending their lead as Neil Cuttler delivered a long range shot from the right but the angle was too sharp, and the shot hit the side of the goal. United evened the score out after a penalty brilliantly laid by Jackie Rolands. The referee showed Officess Damien Fischer-Lloyd the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Many thought Ledley Harris ought to have been awarded a penalty shot in the 35:th minute, as he went down trying to circle the visitors keeper Dharuna Ram. FC Gambero - Pratt's Pro's 5 - 0

Date: 1/4/2004 at 18:00
MatchID: 10433013
Arena: Fossetts Farm
Crowd: 11838

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 11838 to Fossetts Farm. Gambero tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: bin Abdul Wahid - Lacey, MacFie, Jourdain - Lasurt, MacRankin, Dahl, Pratt, Hayes - Clarkson, Álvarez.

Pratts had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: New - Waldron, MacEwen, MacPheidiran, Jones - Hobson, Murray, Sutter, Mast - Haycock, Constable.

Gambero seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. In the 4:th minute cheers broke out as Logan MacFie found his way through the guests central defense line, clipping the 1 - 0 goal in for Gambero. The home side´s Bonnand Jourdain came close to extending the lead in the 16:th minute. His shot came in off the right hand side but John New managed saving with a fingernail. Pratts will have to do without Don Murray for a time due to a bad foot injury. He was substituted by Somerled Nicholson. A well placed corner kick from Marius Dahl was followed by Ross Lasurt´s hard but accurate header. The nice combination meant goal for Gambero. The result now 2-0. Nicholas Clarkson should probably have put his team up another goal in the 36:th minute, but some great goaltending by John New kept the visitors in the game. Pratts made a substitution in the 44:th minute. Jordan Jones limped off the field and was replaced by Bernie Cusack. A bit later, a magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Gambero´s Miguel Ángel Álvarez putting the lead up to 3 - 0. The teams went for a half-time break at 3 - 0. Gambero held the ball, with a clear 91 percent possession rate.

After an industrious effort down the middle Miguel Ángel Álvarez could have closed the game off in the 61st minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. A bit later, a magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Gambero´s Denny Hayes putting the lead up to 4 - 0. The structure of the game started to change as Gambero decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Gamberos Denny Hayes excelled in some fine tricks that completely confusedAllan Waldron - and the finish was no less spectacular - 5 - 0! A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 84 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Gambero. However, John New made a spectacular save. 87 minutes into the game Bernie Cusack had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Hamilton Arnull. Gambero, bringing the final ball possession rate to 89 percent, dominated the battle.

Gambero´s best player was Denny Hayes. However, Ross Lasurt made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Pratts player was without a doubt Robert MacEwen. Somerled Nicholson was a disappointment, however. The match ends 5 - 0.
