By the way, how's everyone doing in Hattrick as the season reaches its climax?

As for the mighty Southend United Football Club (my team ID is 62939, if you want to have a look), we're going great guns - now 2nd in my division (V.135), after two cracking results against my nearest rivals:

* an 8-1 home victory over the team in 4th. Actually, that was a bit of a freak result, since we were very evenly matched sides. However, I've no complaints (obviously!), since the win was in front of almost 34,000 at Roots Hall - and the fans are now "high on life" whilst even the sponsors are "delirious"!

*even better, perhaps, was my 4-1 away win over the team which was second, and which I've now leapfrogged. I'd not won away at theirs before - so to get a 4-1 win was absolutely cracking. However, it was at a cost... I decided to play "Match of the Season" there, so my team spirit is now "furious"....

Hopefully, my Team Spirit will lift to "irritated" during the week, and I can then "Play it Cool" for the last two games of the season - one at home to the team placed 5th in the table (who aren't bad, but aren't great either), and the other away to one of the divisional whipping boys (they're 7th)... that way, I will still hopefully finish in 2nd, but be carrying decent TS into the close season.

All I need now is:

1. My striker to level-up in experience (to solid) so I can convert him into a solid coach. He has solid leadership too, which is brill.

2. My goalie to level-up in ability (to excellent) so I can sell him, and pay for my coach's training.

It's my final home game of the season too, so a sell out - and £150K of takings - would also go down a treat...

Hope everyone else is having a good season.

Matt - doesn't team spirit get re-set at the start of the season?

Is this a potential MtS not reading rules shocker?

Rochford FC are top and coasting I thought id get automatic promotion only to be shocked by seeing that im not even on the list for promotion from league level VI

The mighty Southend-United chalked up the second double figure score of the season with an 11-0 win at the weekend.
However we're languishing in third place at the moment with no chance of catching the leader.

Its been something of a strange debut season. I'm top-scorer by far in the division with 60 goals but I never really recovered from an early defeat to the champions elect when I dominated possession (despite them playing 5 in midfield) and still lost 3-2.

My keeper then got injured and with bad TS I drew a couple of high-scoring games I should have won. I then went and gained revenge by thrashing the leaders 4-0 despite PIC-ing. I was too far behind the leader so then started experimenting with new formations but got thumped 6-2 by the team in second, only to recover and win 11-0 last game. I suppose the fans can't complain that its boring.

Southend United FC went top on Sunday after beating my only real rival 5-0. Sold a youth pick last week for £600,000.

So fingers crossed promotion beckons and a new Coach will be purchased with my youth sale

Does it get "re-set", or does it merely "tend towards composed"...?

Surely it couldn't be right that you finish the season with TS "like the Cold War", and yet a week later you're back to composed?

Must admit, whilst I did read the rules about this, it has been a while since I looked at them properly...

i think Yorkshire Blue is correct and it gets reset along with the fans confiedence and Sponsors

Birri / Steve - go to your league table page. In the bottom right-hand corner, you'll see the "Promotion" section.

Right-click on that bit, and open in a new window.

On the "Promotion page" you'll see a list of those league leaders at your level who are above and below the automatic promotion line... it will be based on their points total and/or goal difference.

So, for example, if I look at my league leaders, they've got 33 points, and a goal difference of 64-9 (incidentally, 5 of which have been scored by me!).

Looking at the auto-promote dividing line, the team just above it have got a goal difference of 47-10, and a points total of 33 points.

So, my league leaders have got a goal difference of +18 better than the teams just above and below the auto-promotion line. Provided they don't drop any points between now and the end of the season, therefore, it looks as if they will very easily auto-promote to Level IV.

Hope that helps explain it for you, guys... so, bearing that in mind, will you auto-promote next season or not?!

Matt

Cool - good luck, Steve!  Win your remaining games, and you'll go up automatically!

By the way, if any of the sides jostling for promotion are wondering how you'll do next season... it's all about your ratings!

Confused?  Well, just explained it to Birri.  You work out your ratings thus:

Disastrous - 1 pt.
Wretched - 2 pts.
Poor - 3 pts.
Weak - 4 pts.
Inadequate - 5 pts.
Passable - 6 pts.
Solid - 7 pts.
Excellent - 8 pts.
Formidable - 9 pts.
Outstanding - 10 pts.
Brilliant - 11 pts.
Magnificent - 12 pts.
World Class - 13 pts.

That should do for now.  You then count up your rating by looking at how your team rated in its last match.  So looking at my last match (Matchid = 16577370), this is how my team rated:

Midfield: solid
Right Side Defence: solid
Central Defence: excellent
Left Side Defence: passable
Right Side Attack: passable
Central Attack: formidable
Left Side Attack: solid

So, you simply add up the scores on the points system, REMEMBERING to multiply your midfield score by 3 (since you've got 3 separate attack and deence ratings, but only one for midfield).

That gave me an overall rating of 64:

21 for midfield
21 for defence
22 for attack

You then also count up your stars to work out your star rating - I got 31 stars last time out, for example.

As a rule, I get 28-31 stars and a rating between 57-60 most weeks.  That has been enough to get me 2nd in my table (at level V), although I'm nowhere near good enough to go up to Level IV.

Having looked at Birri's team, for example, his team got a rating of 47, with 24* last week.  That means that, as a team, his is very similar to the team currently 5th in my table - so not in danger of automatic relegation, but would leave you needing to play a pre-qualifier.

As for my division, I'd say it was moderate as Level V goes... 1 excellent side, 3 good sides, one or two OK sides, and two rubbish sides.

So, hopefully, my musings will provide you with a reasonably accurate guide as to how you'll do next season at Level V if you're about to promote from Level VI...

Matt

cheers matt didnt realise that. I was going to blood some youngsters in my last 3 games now i wont so i get more pts

Did you have two teams, and sold players from one to the other...? Alternatively, did you go bankrupt?

Also another handy tool is the Hattrick Manager which you can download for free, if you like it you can unlock some of the other features for £3.50.

This allows you to download all the information into a manageble program to show stats, training improvements, league positions, finances, blah, blah, blah.

Very good tool
