Harry Brown

Saw the new Michael Caine film 'Harry Brown' last night with the wife. What a film, and I cannot recommend it highly enough to any of you that are looking for something to watch this weekend.

Basically, the film tells the tale of Brown, who turns vigilante when an old friend of his is murdered by a group of youths in a housing estate. Good pace to the film, plenty of action, and Caine is superb.

I'm sure it's entertaining and all that but looking at the poster I can't help but think it just looks like a rehash of the same old Brit-cliches and tired imagery that you would expect from a British made film with Michael Caine in it. Despite the setting and topic matter I can't envisage it delves much beyond a veneer of aestheticised violence and thuggery, an overly simplistic moral tale about the cockney sense of fair play and a simplistic division between the respectable and unrespectable working class. I might be wrong- I am spouting off about a film that I haven't even seen (!)- but for me this kind of stuff was "acceptable in the 90s..."

I bet he loved his Mum as well.

This does look good and I've heard Caine gives his best ever performance . Cant wait to see it . Im a little confused by some reviews that say the violence is to much , but to be fair a Ex marine nothing left to life for and a lifes time skills of killing people isnt really going to be gentle (some reviews have complained about the violence ) they propably want film violence and not realistic portrayed .
