Hard Work

THE SEVENTIES NORTH BANK

Life President⭐⭐🦐
Just shows what you can achieve when the whole team pulls their weight and puts in so much hard work.
Leeds looked a little more classy but were outfought and found it so difficult as we defended from the front and then attacked in numbers.

Laurent and Revs worked their knackers off. What Revell lacks in goals he compensates for in pure effort and a willingness to die for the team.

Laurent is like a daddy long legs, turning this way and that,he almost beats himself but manages to keep the ball under control and is such a hand full.

Spot on , bit of effort goes a long way and the crowd do like that when they see genuine graft from our players , thats why Revell has been given a lot of time to settle here as his goal ratio is not great for a forward.

Reminds me of Wanchope I think.

We need to sign him on a longer deal.

A great talent.

Revell is superb - dont think I've seen a player work harder. He knows he's not the best technically, but won EVERY header today and ran till he dropped.

You could see how up for it he was - running left, right, pointing into space, chasing back to win the ball. Fantastic performance and close to MOM for me.

I think Revs knows his is not one of those players that can bang in 25+ goals a season but he works hard at what he is good at and gives 110% for the team. He wins the headers and opens up the space. He is a big assest to the team as he is the grafter of the 4 main strikers really.

Thought the lads work rate was excellent tonight. That coupled with the football we played at times made for a very entertaining match. Leeds are a good side, but Beckford & co couldn't break through our defence. A superb, all round team performance. Tilly made a big call by dropping McCormack and playing Sawyer - didn't think Macca would be benched after he was back in the starting XI - but it obviously was the right call.
Barrett & Clarke were simply outstanding tonight. The game was right up their street - big crowd, big opposition, backs to the wall at times. It's these type of games that underline how good they are. Same again Saturday please!!

Don't think it was that much of a hard call, macca had a shocking performance against Rovers! I know most of the team didn't play well on saturday but when you have a lad like Sawyer who has been playing great football you just can't leave him out.

Full credit to the team for a superb result. The key moving forwards will be if we can maintain that level every game, and not only when we have something to prove or to make up for. For a team with so many new faces we're way ahead of where I thought we might be by now and we've got every reason to feel optimistic.

Rev's is a lower league Heskey IMO, does the graft to benifit the team and help them out then sets the goals for the other striker...who in most cases would all too often get the credit.
Done a great job so far this season.

Just felt that once Macca found his way back into the starting XI he would be there to stay because of his importance to the team. I agree Sawyer is a big talent and deserved to play. I would have had Sawyer in the team tonight, but was still surprised Tilly benched McCormack...didn't think it would happen.

If a teams winning and playing well together you have to keep it the same (excluding the game at the weekend) considering how well Sawyer's done he desearved his place

Revell works hard? I thought I saw him at left-back at one point - Top Man!

Not only did Revs pop up at Left back, he also took the sting out of a dangerous Leeds break with a superb tackle. So many time you see forwards making the distance up and either not tackling or hacking the opponent down and putting more pressure on the defence. Tonight Rev was all over the place and doing the right job in the right area. A great performance for the team and alongside Laurent, the effort and determination was there for all to see. That must have helped inspire the rest of the team to achieve what I think is a superb result ahead of the derby.

One quick word off thread for Francis. He was much better and while still a little off his best his effort and concentration were much more psoitive than in the past couple of games so hopefully he'll build on tonight's improvement too!

UTB

Christophe also deserves a special mention for his work rate which is phenomenal. He adds real bite to the team and is a master at breaking up attacks all over the place.
He has a real presence about him and is also a very intelligent footballer.

I thought everyone played out of their skins last night, Leeds kept the ball very well without ever really threating, but we kept our shape and worked our nuts off.

Special mentions have already been given to the front two and a few other players, but I want to congratulate Clarkey. Myself, along with another SZ poster, had a bit of a pop at Clarke in another thread but last night I thought he was outstanding.

Not so sure the entire team was working hard. Revell's work-rate was outstanding, but that was because he was covering both wingers - which begs the question where were the wingers?

Having said that, both wingers were a lot better defensively - they certainly had plenty of room to improve in this regard. I'm not sure whether them defending so narrow was something they worked on in training, and if so whether it was specifically for Leeds, or something they are going to try and do every game. Either way, I'd rather Grant got a game to try and make us more sturdy and more competitive in midfield.

A few weeks ago I expressed a few choice words about Kevin Betsy, however, having seen him play last night I think we're getting quite close to seeing an absolute gem of a league 1 player.

That guy was going great guns last night, some very clever balls through to the forward line, so pleasing to see.

Anyway, thought it was worth a mention.

It was a great performance with everyone giving their all for the team and dying for the cause. Another performance and effort like that against Col Ewe and I would expect another 3 points.

If we sign Christophe permanantly, it would be brilliant. Now that he's settled in he just gets better and better with his true class shining through.
Too good for this division (but shush, don't tell anybody).
