Chelsea V Southend United 1-1, Highlights: http://youtu.be/Mifk-05Z-rM

yes 6 years ago since our greatest ever FA Cup result. The mighty Chelsea with all their world class players are held at home by little Southend.

Only right that Middenhall shares the day with Peter Clarke as that save was out of this world amd earned the club plenty of money for Ron to waste.

6 years ago? bloody hell. I remember it well, that and the replay. great days. we had a very decent team back then but the best thing was that even when we were getting spanked at the Hall the crowd were brilliant. sadly we don't do that enough for bog standard league games but great days

What a cracking day that was, had some great company and a real great laugh. Even if I did manage to get us kicked out of that pub. ONE DAVID ESSEX, THERES ONLY ONE DAVID ESSEX! Don't remember much of the game except Herds long throw to Clarke's head and going mental.

I remember lugging boxes of flags through the streets of Chelsea with Southminster and our kids, for some distance as the coaches didn't park closer to the ground! Not sure about "St" Clarke, but it was certainly a great day......oh and Happy Birthday Clarkie!

Johnny Herd. Legend. Felt he was good enough for league football. Better than Conference South level.

I was stuck with the chelsea fans, got some funny looks when I celebrated. Luckily I was surrounded by day trippers

Happy St Clarke & St Middenhall day

How well would he have had to have played for you to remember his name ? :winking:

Excellent memories. Additionally the walk out of the stadium where the Chelsea fans were shell shocked and we all felt 10 feet tall (or I did anyway).

And if only revell had pur that header 6 inches to the right to put us 2.0 up in the replay

I remember sitting in the home end with my dad. A load of Chelsea fans behind us knew we were Southend fans right from the start and continued to bad mouth the club the entire game. At one point I think I remeber them calling one of our defenders (a certain Clarkey) "useless in the air". We has a whole row to ourselves and when we scored we ran up and down until the Full time whistle!

i remember we didn't get much publicity on the highlight channels that day because of Leeds beating united, we was just a normal 40sec and not extended...
