Half-price Blues World

Nice initiative by the club, except for those who have already been charged the full price (and I don't even recall agreeing to continue my Blues World subscription, it was just automatically renewed). Nothing like rewarding your existing customers.....

You are Wiggy, and I claim my half price Blues World subscription...

Oh bu66er! already subscribed...

Think it is automatically renewed unless you cancel before the direct debit is actioned!
Yup - when I signed up last year I gave them a credit card I knew which would expire at some point during the year so they couldn't automatically renew. In the last few weeks I've now been getting pop-up messages (six weeks before it's due to expire!!) that I have to renew!!

Personally, my experience of BW has been ok. I wouldn't say exceptional, and I certainly haven't had the problems that others have had. Generally I'd say I've had value for money.

I wouldn't describe it as value for money when you can get it half-price a month later.

It isn't just Bluesworld, I see they are offering cheap tickets for the Stockport game again rewarding season ticket holders who splashed out 6 months ago. Season-ticket holders don't even get a discount in the club shop any more.

Well it was a bit silly buying it half a month ago then?

And if we play Man Utd again, then at least you know you're guaranteed a ticket.

Are the club/commercial department/Ron supposed to go "Hold on, we can't try and attract any new supporters until next season now because we don't want to upset YB and his mob on SZ.com."

I didn't buy it a month ago, they renewed it for me!

The club need to remember when trying to attract new supporters, that they also need to look after existing supporters. I think the general rule of thumb is that for most businesses it costs 5 times as much to attract a new customer as to keep hold of an existing one.

Actually, they sit and have meetings to decide on ways they can upset YB. I would anyway.

Dont get me wrong, I can see why you are annoyed, but isn't this the same as going out shopping before Dec 25th for Christmas gifts and then going out and finding exactly the same thing at a fraction of a price in the sales?

I stopped subscribing to Bluesworld as I found the videos to be quite poor quality. Plus, now that we get highlights on Virgin, it serves no purpose for me. The interviews with new signings etc are quite good but again, Id rather wait and read it in the paper or on the Zone.

Whatever the club does, it will never please everyone, we all know that. Those of you that can afford blueworld - great. The people out there with less disposable income a month now have an oppurtunity to subscribe too which I think is great.

Here's my two penneth.

I don't buy a season ticket as I can't make every game, however, if I was to go to at least 75% of a season's games I'd get one.

You talk about savings, well yeah, knocking cash off the price of a ticket in some ways isn't fair, but at least with a season ticket you don't have to queue up for tickets, pay booking fees, stand in a horrible queue outside Roots Hall waiting to be told that tickets for that game you wanted to see are not available any more.

I could go on, but I won't, but to me those are absolute bonuses. The only thing I would say is that in my personal opinion BW should either be free or available on a nominal basis to STH's...

That is not quite true, Season Ticket Holders still have to queue up for away game tickets, and all home and away Cup game tickets.

I think in their last meeting they were thinking of upping the season tickets of those who have looked like Harold Shipman wearing a SUFC by 20%.

Fair enough if you ask me I mean if you were an old timer sitting in your seat minding your own business and a Harold Shipman lookalike sat next to you, you'd be terrified.

Not fully correct. If you're a STH and give the club your email address then they send you an email before home cup ties and, using that, you can buy your usual seat online.

Agreed but how many other STH remember this?

Blues World

Regarding Blues World I have had this since it started, and although the half price offer would appear to be a special promotion, I personally think it is a good thing. The more people that join the better it will become, and the more revenue the club will get to reinvest.

I must say that this season in particular there have been major improvements (Thanks Dave). With pre and post match interviews with players, Tilly, and other members of the backroom staff. We now get extended highlights which are now 10/15 minutes long 24hrs after every league match in great HQ, plus extended highlights of most reserve games. The Live Match Centre with audio commentary for all Southend's home and away fixtures, plus audio commentary for most other games in the League through out the week. We must not forget the extensive on demand video HQ highlights library of all Southend’s games home and away since the 2001/02 season. Oh and do not forget this video library is not just Southend's games but most games of other clubs in the Football League and Premiership.

No bad for £19.99..

Question: according to the Blues Insider e-newsletter shown below it would appear that this is discount is only available to subscribers of the e-newsletter is that true?

Giving You The World

Blues Insider has teamed up with Blues World to bring supporters an exclusive half-price offer for a year’s membership to Blues World.

Subscribers to Blues Insider e-newsletter can take advantage of this fantastic offer for 50% less than the regular price of a membership.

That means that you could sign-up to Southend United’s premium content service for just £19.99 rather than the usual £39.99 a year.

If you can’t get to some games this season then Blues World is the only place, including the radio, where you can guarantee to listen to full live match commentary of every Southend United first team fixture.

Blues World will be at every match home and away providing in depth and uninterrupted match coverage from up and down the country.

Meanwhile, this season has seen the introduction of extended match highlights online and available 24 hours after the final whistle.

Fans won't find better highlights anywhere else all season. It's not just the goal action found on usual TV shows, or restricted to five minutes like our online rivals - extended highlights are exclusive to Blues World and cover all the crucial action stretching to over 15 minutes in most cases.

What’s more you can also access regular news bulletins with the management and players on a matchday and throughout the week.

Boss Steve Tilson is on hand pre and post match to speak to the Blues World team about that weekend’s match whilst his players also step in front of the cameras to answer our questions.

Finally our huge archive of footage stretches back seven season so you can also relive some classic matches from our Play-off Final win from 2005 to winning the league against Bristol City in 2006 and of course our glorious Carling Cup victory against Manchester United.

So what are you waiting for? This exclusive offer to Blues Insider subscribers won’t last for ever. Simply click here to take advantage of this half-price saving.
