Question Had James Walker scored at Donny.

The Business
If James Walker had converted his chance which looked easier to score than miss where would we be now?

Assuming we had gone up that year I think we may have had enough quality plus some extra knowledge and had the ability to stay up. Bailey would have stayed, so maybe would Mulgrew, and Clarkey may have been keener to sign a new deal.

Oh crickey mate, i don't even want to contemplate such things

As an aside though i notice the smallest crowd in the CCC this weekend was at Loftus Road .. so much for them overtaking Chelsea sometime soon as was rumoured when the F1 blokes got involved

Same (or similar boat) as we'd have lost the playoff final to Leeds...
Who knows, maybe as defeated playoff finalists we'd have struggled & ended up back in L2?

I think even if we had gone up we still would have gone down, the chumpionship was a pretty good league last year. Also the way Donny were playing they probably would have still won.

I think we'd be pushing Man City for the title, Adebayor would have stamped on Grants face and Barney would have incited a riot at White Hart Lane by scoring and celebrating in front of the Spurs fans.

You could say that about anything that doesn't happen that nearly did...what if. No point going over old ground, look to the future.

If only Richard Cadette had never left us for Sheffield United...............

if only barrington belgrave had been good at football......
if only rob newmans chin wasnt so big...
the list is endless
as is
what if we hadnt signed freddy?
what if stan hadnt signed?

sobering point is with all these as ifs and never happeneds
i kind of think we'd still be a mid table div 3 side!

I reckon we would be supporting AFC Southend by now.

If we had got to the play-off final, I reckon Leeds would have gubbed us at Wembley. At least we'd have had a day out and a few quid in the club coffers though.

had he scored i wouldnt boo him everytime i saw him and i think he would prefer it that way. especially in tesco on the a127.

Good thread.

It was quite a difficult chance actually, not as easy as some make out. It was really fizzed across at pace I reckon he did well to even hit the post. Up until that point Walker had been a brilliant signing, he and Barney totally changed that season around, but I think that knocked his confidence and obviously some of the "best fans in the land" have been on his back ever since.

Like when Foran missed that much easier chance at home to Leeds in the Championship, certain moments "reverberate" long into the future.

Good thread, I don't think so. Who cares about a chance someone missed, well over a year ago. Even if he scored, we would still have got beat, and deservedly. Doncaster more than held their own in the championship the following season. Something we couldn't achieve with arguably a better team than we had at our disposal then.
