I made my plight clear to work about trying to get in with c2c down and they basically seemed happy as long as I turned up at some point today.

So how on Earth have I managed to get here at 9:00 bang on on the first day back after Christmas??

Only positive is that no-one else is in!

Been in the office here in Chelmsford since 8.15am..

I hate working these "in between" days.

Thanks!

Had to brave c2c's "service" today, however the 07.52 from Laindon wasn't particuarly busy and was on time.

Really don't want to be here now...

Working from home at the in laws, started at six, numerous cups of tea, some cake and now watching match of the day.

Be finshed by 2pm so not so bad.

Working at the lovely Basildon Hospital, 2 of us in, no management and a big tin of Quality street for company. At least the roads were dead this morning.

Indeed they were, got from Hockley to Southend in less than 20 minutes, it's 40 normally.

Is there actually any service at all on c2c? I got the impression I'd have to get to Upminster or something before they even considered giving me a train to sit on.

Yep, the A127 and A130 to Chelmsford was a very lonely place this morning, just added to the "I'm the only f%cker working" feeling I have today..

Service from Laindon to London Fenchurch Street, with buses replacing trains.

I'm not at work, but on-call. Have been since 22nd and will be up until the 2nd Jan.

It's a VERY sober christmas / New Year.

The thought of getting a bus to work in London from Southend really scares me. I'm just glad I only had to do this journey one day.

Good luck for the rest of the week!

the wife had to go back today - when that 6.30 alarm went off it almost gave me a heart attack, didn't know where I was, what day it was etc.

And at your age sudden surprises aren't good.

I had to work yesterday. Stuck there for 11 hours, so I dont know what you lot are moaning about, about working over xmas

Next day in is on New Years Day, so can't party too much on New Years Eve.... So much for having a good drink over this festive period.
