Interesting experiment where arts critics review sport today and sports writers review arts tomorrow.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/jun/17/1

Bit pretentious in places, especially:

Watching football is, in theory, a bit like looking at art. The view from my seat (which has its own little TV monitor) might be compared to looking down on a vast green abstract canvas laid flat, with dots oscillating about like some 1960s piece of kinetic art. But while I can find deep meaning in, say, an abstract by Jackson Pollock, the game of football has always been as indecipherable to me as some people profess to find modern art. I am a football philistine

But overall, relatively interesting.

I cannot bear it when those poncy 'arts' shows such as Newsnight Review start reviewing the football, and the likes of Germaine Gree and that Irish philosopher start spouting about "the beautiful game". Perhaps one week they can get Alan Hansen, Andy Townsend and Ian Wright to give their view on the Rothko exhibition at the Tate Modern, or what they feel about the RSC production of As You Like It at the Swan Theatre, Stratford.

Tomorrow, the football correspondent gives his views on Finnish dance, apparently.
