Grimsby

Just arrived home and just feel empty to be honest, a very strange feeling.

It was just not our day we had enough opportunities to win this game but we really did not get any breaks of the ball.  Gray had a great chance after Freddy slotted him in, Petts fired just over in the 1st half, we hit the bar.  Grimsby goal was a lucky hook back over his shoulder, think we all thought it was going wide but in off the post.

Disgraceful scenes from the Grimsby fans which started about 8 mins from the end, all stood round the pitch stopping the ball going out etc.  They must have known how important it was for us, so the referee ended up blowing early.  Before this though it swept the away end that Bury had equalised and it was mental the players obviously realised we were up, but 'o' no it was joke - thanks to the person who started this.

A great following today, plenty of noise and every fan was certainly a credit to Southend United.  Just a shame the same cannot be said about the idiotic Grimsby fans, good to see a few of them getting banged up in Police vans outside the ground.

Lets hope we can pick ourselves up for Northampton.

I am glad that its our four points from you that stopped you going up.

leyton orient.

That's one way to look at it.

Another way is

4th > 11th

Playoffs > Mid-table obscurity (yet again)

Is there no way we can stop these c********** w*****s East London tw*ts getting onto our site?

Yes, and we're glad that our 15 points from elsewhere left us 7 places above you and still with a chance of going up.

And we scored all your goals for you

oh come on...are you telling me if the roles were reversed you wouldnt be enjoying it ?

In a nothing match, the atmosphere over the O's today was great because our tannoy announcer kept us up to date - get my drift ? When the final score was announced it was marvellous.

And its even sweeter because we beat you just a couple of weeks back - which f_ucked you right up. And amazingly, that was another game that you were 'so unlucky in' , 'just didnt get the rub of the green', etc, etc.

You lot have had a fantastic second half to the season but you choked - big time. I think you will get battered in the first leg against Northampton - I sense a 3-0 win to the Cobblers. One can hope....

Of course we would and you would hate us for enjoying it just like we hate you for gloating now.

I'm glad we provided some excitement in your dull season. Luckily we managed to make our own enjoyment without relying on other teams misfortunes - C********r, Bristol Rovers (all 3 times), Cardiff (until extra time), Macclesfield etc, etc, etc

And who knows what is still to come........

Despite the gut wrenching disappointment at the final whistle today, I know which position I'd rather be in

As has been pointed out already tonight - we're not even your true rivals so why don't you find a London club to bother. Oh no - they're all 2 or 3 leagues above you aren't they

come on, just lose the red shirt and support West Ham, to quote the empreror "it is your destiny"

It would probably amuse us quite a lot but in all honesty, we had our fun when your lot were top of the league and telling us how you were going to be promoted at Roots Hall.

You got the result at Roots Hall but it seems to be the 20 or so games in between where it went pear shaped.

Frankly, would you rather have an extended season to play now or absolutely nothing bar a few trips to the seaside to look forward to for the rest of the summer?

Sure, we were looking for third but after 46 league games, for whatever reason, we didn't make it. Now we have to prove we are better than Northampton, Lincoln and Macclesfield as our league position would suggest cos I think there's a lot to be proved now.

It's amazing the assumptions you can make about people from a few posts, but why do I always imagine you in a little box room with a can of White Lightning at your side, your mum sat in the lounge eating a microwave meal and your dad out getting his giro?

Either way, thanks for the comments, they have been both useful and informative. If you could let us know exactly what the O's have achieved in the last 40 years I would be very grateful.

Let's not be too hard on them. It was probably the best day of their lives yesterday.
