Nice one. Hopefully it'll be a nice spring/summer's day when we play you away and not a cold Tuesday night in February.

Coxy you just know it will be either that February Tuesday you mentioned or the Saturday before Christmas

I've often wondered why the FL doesn't arrange the furthest away games for a Saturday either at the beginning of the season or at the end of the season so that the weather and travel is much easier for the teams and the supporters and there is less liklihood of the games being postponed. The long distance games should not , in my opinion, be arranged for mid week, save of course, cup ties which can't be changed. I suppose most cynics would say that the FL don't care about supporters.

Given that probably between 90% and 95% of supporters do not attend these sort of games, this issue is unlikely to figure prominently in the algorithms used by the fixture compilation computers.

Last season, Morecambe bought 85 for the Saturday game so I would assume Fleetwood would bring a similar amount. How many for an evening game? About 30? There's not a huge difference in the gate there, and this could be offset by the number of home fans attending. Compare this to a more local match, like Northampton for instance, which is far more likely to have a bigger following on a Saturday as opposed to a Tuesday night.

I say make the longest trips midweek matches all the time as it makes the smallest difference to the club takings.

Maybe if we was to get Fleetwood at home on the opening game of the season . They may bring 250 to get into swing of the football leauge for the first time .

Just thought I'd pop on to say hi to our new friends for the forthcoming season, and point you in the direction of The Independent Fleetwood Town Fans Forum. Everyone welcome, so pop along and say hi. :winking:

Good luck for the season - another ground to visit

Must say I do not know what colours you play in, where the ground is or even if it is worth bringing a rod and line along to the town - still that will change in the next few weeks and months.

Any pointers you can give us with regard to your team and players for next season? And what is the pitch like for instance?

They play at Highbury, must be nice !!

They not only play at Highbury but they play in Arsenal's colours. Something even more fishy about League Two next season, as well as the Shrimps and Shrimpers we now have the Cod army..........I hope that this cod is not too slippery and in my opinion, it needs a good battering. Think ourselves lucky that Grimsby didn't get back into the League! Am I the SOLE to feel a pun thread coming on?

That sounds cockle-tastic! Shame Whitby haven't managed to work their way up the leagues yet ........ we could have a football league fishing contest on the go ............ just hope the wind doesn't come off the Irish Sea and right up the away supporters end on a Wednesday evening match in January . That wouldn't do your crab legs any good ..........

Sadly, their official website says nothing about a decent fish and chip shop in the vacinity .........

Oh, if there's a puns PERCH to be used, you'd better get your SKATEs on before other people MUSSEL in.

Mick

Any ideas what criteria it does use? Appreciate certain sides kept apart and Xmas fixtures are local. Any others?

Cheers

I realised some time ago that what I have always thought as my good knowledge of geography stems mainly from football, and if a town has a team I usually make a point of knowing where it is. (Port Vale took some finding), anyway ashamed to admit I had no idea where Fleetwood was and assumed it was somewhere near Newcastle. Have now enhanced my education and apologies to any Fleetwood fans reading.:dunce:
