Greece V England

THE SEVENTIES NORTH BANK

Life President⭐⭐🦐
Brilliant from England. So many good performances. Well done Carsley, got the tactics spot on, with England attacking with pace from deep. The erratic Pickford was at his best with positioning and decision making. Hat's off to Greece, as they looked very dangerous second half, and it made the result dodgy until England got the second goal. England just need to beat Rep of Ireland to win the group and get automatic promotion.

A decent performance in a nothing tournament. I look at it as an workout for the team and a chance to give the newbies a run out. Worked out well tonight.

But people extolling yet another money spinner at the top are forgetting that the Nations League contributes to the wishes of the elite that cup games no longer go to replays.

I can't be the only one who noticed the Greek fans constantly shining green lasers in the players eyes. I wonder if there'll be any punishment for it.

As bad as England were and as wrong as Carsley got it in the first fixture, I generally thought both were pretty faultless last night. Given the injuries and withdrawals, it’s a fantastic performance and a great result.

Aside from a few spells of possession around the edge of the box and some individual lapses of concentration, Greece really struggled to create clear cut chances against a makeshift back four, and the midfield was incredibly disciplined in containing before regaining possession and triggering counters. I worried for Gallagher after he picked up an early yellow, but he was largely excellent filling in for Rice. Bellingham too was quiet for spells, but gave a really mature performance in the 8 - that might just give Tuchel enough to think a Bellingham/Rice duo at the base of a midfield can work after all. Curtis Jones was excellent throughout and deserved his goal.

Madueke was a very bright spark early on but faded badly in the second half, and was hugely at fault for allowing Tsimikas a good chance in the first half.

Lewis Hall also stood out for me. Incredibly tough circumstances and environment to come in on your debut, but he just slotted straight in and looked very tidy.

Just an all-round professional performance. Should they win on Sunday and top the group, then that’s something Carsley can and should hang his hat on in the future.

It was to replace friendlies and give the smaller teams to play each other get a few wins and experience rather than face the so called elite teams get thrashed and people moan what a waste of time and moan.

An excellent, accomplished performance from what was very much a second string XI from us.

Greece have been unbeaten at home in 3 years, and complete dismantled us at Wembley. This puts promotion back in our own hands.

As bad as Carsley was in the home fixture, he was spot on for this fixture. Had he done this in the home fixture, he’d probably have been nailed on to get the job.

Plenty of positives, especially when you look at the starting line up and you’d suggest, when everyone was fully fit, only Pickford, Guehi, Walker (debate between him and Trent) & Bellingham would start.

He wasn't bad per se, he experimented and it didn't come off.
