Good Luck this Saturday Shrimpers, losing a few years ago to us in the semi's and then the Paint Pot Final must of hurt but your fans at Wembley that day were a credit to the club, the respect the majority showed towards Adam Dugdale is something I will remember.

It will be good to have you back in L1:clap::clap::clap:

Cheers Benalex. We are going to totally annihilate them 1-0 (we specialise in that score line). Lower league clubs are one big family when tragedies like Adam Dugdale's occur.

The play off semi final was a sickener, the JPT not so much, that was more about a day out at Wembley.

3rd time lucky for us this time, losing out to Burton last year so at least this time we have got to Wembley, hopefully we can go another step further on Saturday.

Really pleased for you guys  looking forward to visiting Roots Hall again.

How do you think you will fair in L1 next season?

Thanks Benalex. You're welcome to come to Wembley next season to see us continue the adventure upwards. We always seem to have two good seasons back to back. Truthfully........haven't a clue yet, it depends on Phil and what signings we make. With our current squad I think we would be mid table.

Gonna be a tough one for some for us, unless we do some good business we will go down, just survived on the last day again this season, teams like Blackpool, Wigan, Millwall, and now Swindon, L1 is getting tougher.
Investment will be key.

I was quite amazed at how you struggled last season. Its only two years ago that you gave us a footballing lesson at Wembley. Funny how fortunes can turn around so quickly.

Yeah well as you may know we survive on bringing in youth the loss of Westwood,Murphy and Powell has been hard to replace quickly, though we have a few now they will need to step up from the start of next season.
L1 is becoming harder for clubs like us that dont have a sugar daddy.

Interestingly, for me anyway, our youth academy is producing some good lads at the moment, especially on the goal keeping front. Bentley was considered one of the best in league two last season by unbiased observers. Teddy Smith, nominally our number two keeper, is an England under 18 keeper, and Jackie Payne is now blossoming into a class midfielder. All academy lads. The trouble is that we will get big offers for all of them, and probably have to sell to survive. Just the way it is I guess.

What's your view on League 1 'Benalex'?

Physical or do most teams try and play decent football and did you find most teams came to Crewe to defend or try to get the three points?

Andy, we have struggled for the last two years with the physicality but that was down young inexperienced players and no play makers in the centre of the park, a young back line at the start of the season saw us on the wrong side of some maulings from the likes of MK Dons, there are a number of teams now in L1 the likes of Brentford, Sheffield Utd, Bradford and Swindon all good decent footballing sides add to that Millwall Blackpool and Wigan it will be a hard season again, most teams that came to the Alex expected to win and attacked.

I haven't seen much of your games this season except for a few highlight shows and the play offs so I am not sure of your team but like us I think you are going to need three maybe four experincened L1 players, we have had to pick a few experinced loan players to surive the last two seasons.

Thanks, Benalex.

Phil Brown models his teams on a "clean sheet mentality" and we are no different, so we are organized at the back and have a quality keeper, but have lacked something in the final third against sides who pack their defence, hence a lot of 0-0 draws at home.

We definitely need some quality in the final third, but our energy levels are very high and work-rate when we haven't got the ball is as good as anyone, but having a few players with a bit of composure and a finisher would be handy.

Last time we were promoted into League 1, we did have that blend.

Think we'll do OK, especially against footballing sides.

Was impressed with the way you moved the ball around in the JPT Final, so was surprised you've struggled this season.

I wish Steve Davis had that mentality as a former defender we have the worst defensive record for the last two years.:nope::omg:

i think it's tough to know with Blackpool, given the state they're in they could go down again, or it could be a clean slate and the chance to bottom out and go again. just on the basis of the instability and chaos there i'd be surprised if they were top half

and thanks by the way. i have so much respect for Crewe after the beating they gave us. played football the right way and a club that brings through the youth is always alright by me
