Good Football Information Sites

I need to find some information about the economic, environmental and social capital of football. Does anyone know any good books/websites/magazines about this kind of thing?

We have to do an essay about anything we want to do, so i chose football, obviously, and this has to do with the sustainable development of economic, environmental and social capital for the next 2 decades within this chosen subject. I can think of loads for football, but i just have to back them up with references.

Economic: sponsors, fans, TV revenue, Cup revenue

Environmental: Grass for Pitches, Trees for seats and maybe crossbars(?), and sounds crude but animals for food. You eat them when you tuck into your half time burger

Social: Communites, Fans, Trusts.

Understand it a bit more now, Paul?

Id say Championship Manager would be a good model of what might happen in football financially over the next 2 decades, just depends if u have a spare 2 weeks to play it??

Dave

Yeah I could do, Dave. I need to get books and sites as well tho.

How good would that be? Producing a paper for your tutor where basically you spent 2 weeks playing Champ Man and have print outs of the various screens... damn, wish I'd have done that at college

I went on Google, typed:

football research

in search and all kinds of sites came up that might or might not be of any interest... or they may lead on to more applicable sites / contacts.

Take a look.

when I was at uni, we didn't have Google, just some journals and stuff.

for social capital, see the FSF and Supporters Direct. For economic, there's an annual report on the state of the football economy by some bank. Shouldn't be too hard to locate. For environmental, just look at new stadiums etc.

easy.

Thanks for your help, Naps

You thought about looking at the end of year financial reports on PLC clubs, it will give you alot of info if you want to use examples and may also give you some info. Arsenal, Sheff Utd should have some examples.

Deloitte & Touche used to do a lot of football reports, I know ~because my namesake works there and keeps overgoogling my sites.
