Coach
First post. As I've 'emigrated' to London and am not one of the season-ticket holding elite I was unable to get an away ticket for the Spurs game. 'Not to worry' I thought, 'I'll just go into the home end and not wear my Southend top. Right, let's go to the Spurs website and order me a couple of tickets.'
Hmmm....Spurs website says that tickets are unavailable, so I decided to phone the Spurs ticket-office. Get an answerphone message, tickets for the cup game are unavailable.
So I'm guessing by this point that it's a sell-out. So there was nothing for it but to go to WHL and get my tickets there. When I get to the ticket office there's a big sign outside saying 'Spurs v Southend - tickets unavailable'.
The signs are not good (sic). Out of sheer desperation I go into the ticket office and ask the bloke if there are any left for the game 'Oh yeah mate, where do you want to sit?' When I questioned why there were signs, websites and phone messages saying that there were no tickets available said that was club policy for cup matches to deter away fans.
He then asked me where I wanted to sit, so I told him I've never been to WHL before as I'm not a Spurs fan and without blinking he gave me a detailed account of where to sit and where not to sit if you're an away fan at WHL.
I now am the proud and happy owner of two tickets for their west stand. I will be looking over to my left wishing I was in the away block, but come ten o'clock I hope even more to be celebrating a famous victory which will wash away the painful memories of David Crown's amazing miss when we beat them 3-2 at RH only to go out on away goals.
I am well excited about tomorrow night - UP THE BLUES!
