Cant disagree with the views of individuals performances , thought Barret and Bentley were superb !
However :
1) Why did our players keep slipping over , I would have thought the choosing the right stud was not to difficult ( Wrexham seemed to manage )
2) Thought they looked fitter than us ( B + B excepted )
3) Dissapointed that we had more fans but made less noise

Is it true what it said in the program about Gower being in talks with ITVs celebrity Fit Club? He was so slow yesterday, and looked so tired that maybe the fitness coaching wouldn;t be a bad idea!

yes i notice the endless slipping we managed to do for no reason at all - perhaps some players are more worried about the colour of them these days.

yes our fitness was poor - near the end of the game we looked totally knackered obviously still recovering from their last game 9 days ago...they must have been knackered! Wrexham had a mid week game as well. Gower looks as fit as Alan Fordham

Thats expected for a team in the league above us though. I was very worried when it went to extra time that our fitness was going to show.
The colour of the boots obviously had nothing to do with slipping over but amongst the group i was with it was commented on, on more then one occasion that we kept falling over and they didn't, you would hope that the players have a pair of boots with blades and studs that can be changed so that was slightly disappointing.

I would like to add also that peoples different top level of fitness are different due to different genetic make up. Therefore saying that Bently worked hard while Maher couldn't be bothered at the end is a bit harsh. Some players have the engines that keep on going in the mould of beno and bryan robson whereas others no matter how hard they work and train will never be able to meet the same level of fitness.

Bentley has got an incredible engine on him. What's really impressive is that he not only just keeps on running (like Pettefer), but he'll do the lung-bursting sprints as well.

He's about the only Southend midfielder you see regularly really sprint. Certainly I can't recall any of our other midfielders having that urgency to get back when caught up field (and I think we've conceded a lot less goals on the counterattack as a result of Bentley's efforts).

I agree with the sprinting back. Its like when Wayne Rooney plays for England, it doesn't matter how far away he is he runs as fast as his fat little legs will carry him and often gets back and makes a tackle.
I think Beno is the unsung hero of our team in the mould of a Bryan Robson.

Wayne the guy who is so unfit he has never appeared 90 mins for England

I'm getting the impression Bryan Robson was/is your boyhood hero?

Certainly agree about Bentley being the unsung hero.

It's so pleasing to see him and Barrett becoming the fans favourite as usually it's only ever a striker who's the favourite players.

I think that has more to do with taking him off before he gets stretchered off or sent off.

Wrap him in cotton wool, our World Cup hopes rest entirely on his ample shoulders.

He didn't say Wayne had an engine that could run forever, just that he always sprints back like Bentley when he loses the ball or trying to break down the counter attack. Think you'd find Bentley struggling to do that in an England shirt for 90 minutes. (Unfortunately something we'll never see....!!!)

Of course we will, as soon as Sven gets the sack and the F.A. finally recognise that my talents could easily be transferred from Football Manager to real life then i will be picking Beno every week.

Gerrard is injured so there's a vacancy in the England midfield.......
