Mods.....I know this should be in either the Olympic thread or the All Sports Forum but it is quite an emotive subject and would benefit from the exposure it would receive in the Pub, if that is ok with you guys?

Question is straight forward......

If the president of FIFA agrees that it will not effect the international standings of all home nations and there associations, should there be a GB Football team or not for the 2012 Olympics?

I personally think that a home nations Knock out tournament should take place with the winner being the country that would represent GB in the 2012 Olympics. I am not against a mixed GB team of English, Scottish, Welsh and NI but the politics that goes along with it really is not worth the time that will be afforded to it.

PS. If this has been discussed before, apologies but i never saw it.

I believe there should be a Great Britain team, however I think it should comprise of players from the under 21's, and not our so called superstars. If FIFA agree to a GB team, we have 4 years to mould a good group of youngsters together from now on in.

I think the age limit is 23 already isn't it ??

That's the key thing for me - it'd become such an exercise in political correctness to keep all nations happy that the football itself would end up taking a back seat.

Added to that, Taggart is being persistently wooed as the manager of such a team, and the last thing I want during the summer break is his scarlet, puffed up mug on my TV anyway.
