Neil Harris was lined up to come on loan and Megson blocked it before allowing him to go to Gillingham

We have had a £75K bid for Agogo refused which they are surprised at as he can go on a Bosman at the end of the season. But there may be more developments today.

We are after 2 players however and he is NOT the number one target.

The other is an unnamed striker who can play in a variety of positions and wants to come but a fee has yet to be agreed. The management have been looking at him "for a while".

Guttridge is back in training after suffering from fatigue. Tilly is still waiting for news on Grays hamstring injury and how bad it is.

Interesting behaviour from Megson by blocking Harris from going to Southend yet allowing Gillingham to sign him...

Sour grapes over the failed bid for Eastwood, perhaps?

Hopefully we'll snap Agogo up in the close season then on a free. Be a good signing. Be interesting to now who the other forward is seeing as Agogo wasn't first choice.

Dudfield is a free agent again now isn't he? Didn't he sign on a months contract at Northampton?!

He won't be coming back.

If we don't sign anyone today, it's not the end of the world. We can always bring in loanees.

But methinks somethings gonna happen...

It doesn't actually say the other target is a forward. If it is though and he is (apparently) a priority ahead of Agogo that has been eyed for a while I'd be surprised if it isn't Grant Holt.

I suppose we will find out all the answers very soon. At least it is keeping me entertained while I am stuck in the office!

Well, we never ended up spending that 'six figure sum' on anyone did we...

We must have a fair few bob available to spend still..

It actually says

The other player Blues are currently tracking is rumoured to be another attacker, who can also play in a variety of positions. "He's someone who the management have been looking at for a while," said a club insider.

"He is interested in coming to Southend but a fee has got to be agreed with the club in question as he is still under contract and that could yet prove to be the stumbling block."

Rules out Holt if you ask me. He can't play anywhere else.

I'm sure time will tell....

Blimey I'm getting nervous already!

It does rule out Holt yes, the one striker that comes to mind who is versatile is Nathan Tyson but I gather he's on his way to Cardiff for £300k and there's no way we'd spend that.

Campbell-Ryce...

I don't think his much of a forward though. Very tricky winger with pace to burn, but not a forward. Fair too lightweight for that. Would be a good signing, but do we really need another winger what with Gower, Cole, Petts, Lawson and Guttridge and Beno can both play wide if we need and even Gray as well.

I don't think it's Oli. The Grays fans would revolt, and he's probably guaranteed a lot more first team football there than he is with us.
