From a Crewe website lol

Just got this off the Crewe website, what drugs are they on?

"they have a goalkeeper who doesnt have confidence in the defence, a defence which doesnt have confidence in the goalkeeper, 2 holding midfielders, 1 young 1 and 1 good player, a midfielder playing upfront and a striker who plays off someone and has no - one to play off.

Simple really lol"

:hilarious:

Are they talking about us? Before throwing criticisms around they should take a look at themselves, they were so poor even Hooper managed to score! ;)

Challenging Gillingham for worst team in the league IMO!

 What are they on? We were the ones that scored 3, while that keeper and defence who apparently have no confidence in one another kept a clean sheet...Just sour grapes :thump:

I think Crewe urgently need to get Dario back where it counts. It was odd to see a Crewe team lacking any ambition, quality and and obvious talent. I'd expected them to come attempting to pass us off the park.

They didn't seem to know what they were doing. They didn't look like they had come to try to stop us playing but I can't remember them launching any serious attacks on our goal, certainly not from open play.

Fair enough the quoted site was talking about Crewe themselves, twas a bit misleading.

After they were thumped by Bournemouth I expected them to offer more resistance than they did. We didn't need to get out of third gear to beat them. I'll echo ORM's comments - they need to convince Gradi to take control again or they'll be struggling against relegation.

Crewe to their credit did try and play passing football. The trouble is that they were devoid of any self-belief and looked like a team who had just been thumped 4-1 not just last week but probably the week before as well.

It is difficult to play passing football when you have no confidence, we saw that last season with ourselves. Tilly's big thing at Southend has always been to try and give the players the confidence and belief to express themselves. Crewe lacked that and players didn't have the confidence to make runs, want the ball or take risks. Consequently their play was stiflingly conservative.

every time they found time and space (which was worryingly often) they seemed so shocked they literally fell over the ball. a good team would have slotted a few past us today as we were quite sloppy at times. gower and black were woeful for much of the game and it was only that hammell and hunt played really well that we didn't get properly punished for their terrible passes straight to their players

Worst team I've seen at Southend for quite sometime. I have always had a soft spot for Crewe mainly because of what Dario Gradi has done there. Hope they get things sorted out(apart from the return game against us) or they will be in league 2 next season.

I thought Crewe were woeful. One good thing from a Southend perspective is that we are now beating the teams in the bottom half of the table. As opposed to last season when we beat the top sides but continually lost or dropped points to those teams around us.

Now all we have to do is consistently take points from the teams in the top half. Easy isn't it?;)

It wont be long before Gradi back in charge of first team affairs, it better be quick too because they are poo.

I thought it all very laudible, but suicidal, when the Crewe defence tried to play themselves out of trouble, rather than going for the row Z hoof. I, for one, hope that they stay up.
