Phil Brown took a watching brief at the Ricoh Arena on Wednesday night and it’s safe to assume the Southend United boss will have slept fairly soundly after witnessing City limp through to the last 16 of the Checkatrade Trophy. His Shrimpers entertain the Sky Blues on Saturday as Mark Venus ’s men get back to the bread and butter of the league and, more importantly, putting some points on the board in the on-going battle against the threat of relegation. But Brown’s view on the game will, do doubt, have filled him with confidence that he will pass on to his charges at Roots Hall where he’ll almost certainly have them fired up and ready to put City to the sword.

Most clubs turn a corner at some point and the dismal run comes to an end .......... we just have to make sure that our planning and preparation are right.
