Free money - new accounts only

He wore his coat so got my stake back and apparently the £30 winnings are given as a free bet tomorrow. Hoping they won't have to be used in one bet.

I also got an automated call from Betway asking whether I thought a PL team would get knocked out in the 4th rd for which I said yes. I'm getting a mystery free bet in the next 72 hours apparently

If you have any funds in your Betway account I'd withdraw them first. They're well known for giving bonuses which prevent you from withdrawing by enforcing ridiculous wagering requirements.

Seems like BWIN are shonky too. Placed a £10 bet at 8/1, won the bet and they only paid out £80, they didn't give me my £10 stake back. I've complained and they have brushed me off. It wasn't a free bet, was a bet of my own money

I know. I was joking.

I have to be honest, spending more time looking at it today and doing some research, I've got my wires crossed and BWIN are correct. I thought 8/1 was the same as 8.00 but it's not. The 8.00 payout includes your stake whereas 8/1 doesn't so in effect 8.00 is equivalent to 7/1. Silly me. Anyway, the £80 has been withdrawn now so I'm happy

Bwin used to (not sure if they still do) charge for withdrawals so wouldn't trust them either, even if they are huge on the continent.

Sportingbet also used to charge £1 per deposit for a little while.

I'm no advocate of High Street bookies, but sometimes it's easier to play safe and go with what you know if you're a casual punter.

Just stick with listed companies, they're far less likely to **** about as if they end up on the wrong end of a hefty fine they've got shareholders to answer to. Private companies like Betway, private because Microgaming don't want anybody to know they own them, don't have that accountability.

Wich ones do you mean? Ladbrokes, Skybet for instance

Lads, Hills, Paddys... Just use common sense really. If it's a reputed name then stake ahead, but if you've never heard of them then express a bit of caution. A quick Google search should bring up if there are any known issues with them. BetButler collapsed towards the end of last year and took hundreds of thousands of punters money with them, but they'd been close to the wall for almost a year before that so it's a wonder people still betted with them.

Further to ESB's reply, the former has a massive retail state and the latter is backed by one of the biggest TV companies on the planet. Neither of those will be disappearing soon.

Any with a decent shop presence in the UK or Ireland (Hills, Coral, BetFred, Paddy Power, Boyles) can at least be relied upon not to run away with your money. bet365 are safe as houses too.

Aye, and they're still allowed to use all of Sky's assets, so it's a stellar move for CVC even if they did massively overpay for it.
