Fredy Eastwood

It seems to me that we have signed a fantastic striker for peanuts.

Years of disappointment have made turned me into a cynic.

There must be a catch somewhere but I can't see it.

Any suggestions?

I don't know of any catches. I think we just have to live with it.

dont be so negative, we took a chance while others just watched. looks like tilly has kept close tabs on the local talent, bents was a good signing too

By all intents and purposes it seems as though in the past his attitude has been suspect.

But then so was Stan Collymore's.

Stan was the sort of player who would totally dominate a game, and I don't think Fredy is that type. However, he is so exciting that even if he has a quiet day, you know he is capable of that touch of class that will result in a goal.

I would imagine Grays will get a percentage of the selling on fee, which by the looks of things should be high and not too far off.

Fantastic signing though and i haven't looked forward to Southend games for a long while as have done lately. Bring on the Luton.

I am pretty sure that if we get promotion come May, he'll stay with the club. I would imagine that he will want to play in the Championship or Premiership at some stage, but if we do well, it would take a big club to take him away from us!

ONE FREDY EASTWOOD!

Tilson's record in the transfer market:

Eastwood
Bentley
Gray
Barrett
Prior
Petteffer (???)

Not bad so far - no duds as yet.

What about Lawrie 'duds' Dudfield then?

Saturday was the first sighting of the dreaded yellow (or orange) ball.

For the last few years we've often looked a better team in the opening and/or closing months of the season when the sun is out and the pitches are in top condition. However the majority of the league campaign is played when conditions are bad.

Fredy looks the business so far, but in his only game in adverse conditions he didn't cause Shrewsbury much trouble. Could this be the catch?

I think whilst Fredy probably won't be quite as prolific in the winter months, I reckon he'll still score a fair few to hopefully keep us in the hunt.

If that's a list of 'duds' I'd have to disagree that Dudfield, Edwards and Nicolau are duds - Edwards and Nicolau have been pretty solid if unspectacular while Dudfield certainly knows where the net is, even though he's been a tad quiter this season

No, that's the rest of the players signed by Tilly/Brush.

Oh, and BTW, you don't disagree that Griemink is a dud, but you do Nicolau? I smell a Flahavan fan....

Nah not particularly, but I'm a bit undecided about Griemink so far. Really I don't think there's much to choose between the two.

I don't get why Flavs fans are seen as a bad thing here! Is it not possible to support whoever happens to be in goal matchday whether its Bart Flavs or even Tes! Why does it have to be this or that? Besides that what is so wrong with Flahavan? I think hes a top quality keeper, while with Bart we look less likely to concede from set pieces, Flavs we look less likely to concede soft or comical goals a-la Macclesfield
