Freddy - "I could have returned to Blues"

I know he's strictly speaking an ex-Shrimper but Freddy Eastwood was apparently close to coming back to us according to the Echo today

I don't think this is anything we didn't already know and distinctly remember the Zone going into meltdown :D

So we have Wolves to thank for scuppering what would have been a pretty sensational front line up of Freddy and Barney which might easily have given us a different outcome at the end of the season.

According to the article, Freddy contacted Tilly and wanted to come back on loan towards the end of the season but McC*nt and Wolves stopped him and instead kept him to sit on the bench and fester in the reserves :madman:

lets hope he gets his move away soon then as they've scrapped their reserve side for next season. so he won't be doing much if he stays.

So correct me if i am wrong but didnt we get £1.5 million for freddy?

So if we have yet to spend that money why not offer wolves 800k to sell him which is what i belive coventry have offered and then in effect we will have got 750k for a years loan ;) . Note a bad piece of business at all.

We get a top drawer striker and still have 750k in the bank.

I knw it doesnt work like that but if it did how great would that be. Incidentally i feel we may have got freddy if we had just been promoted again.

Just his massively increased wages to meet from the balance of the money.

Very true but a wage of say 4k pw plus 500 a goal maybe within reach .

As soon as you break the wage structure you're going to have other players, like Nicky Bailey, asking why you can't do the same for them. If it's true that Adam Barrett has a clause making him the joint highest paid player at all times then any adjustment to the wage structure will mean that we'll have to find "star player" wages for him too.

You could pull the international card though to shut others up. It's all hypothetical anyway, it isn't going to happen now.

I sure hope not. The man is Mr southend but he is no where near the best player in the squad and should not stop potential players coming in becuase his wage needs adjusting. IMHO barrett or clarke need a new partner because they cant play together at all.

And to be honest that argument is just stupid.

Do you think Garry Neville is on Alex Fergusons door askng for the same wage as a Ronaldo just because he has been there longer?

No he accepts the Ronaldo is better and brings more to the team than he does and as such gets paid more.

Wolves just would not let it happen & they are right IMO.

Freddy can say what he wants when he wants; but the timing is poor!!!!
