Freddy Eastwood

rlb999

We want 4 stands!
Loads of posts on here about Eastwood returning. Will someone please tell me why Fredy, with much of his career still ahead of him, presumably ambitions to cut it in the championship, and earning much more than any of our squad, would want to drop a division, take a step back to where he started, and join a club that's clearly in crisis? Then can we get real!

Because the Freddy Eastwood we had has disappeared.

When he was with us he was just about to break into the Wales squad, think he pulled out because of a back injury. The other week, possibly a little bit longer Wales had a few kids on the bench and Eastwood wasn't even in the squad.

He has only scored about 5 League goals since leaving us.

I get the impression he liked being the big fish in a small pond, which is what he'd be here. He'd be coming to a Club that gave him his chance in League football. The Club that got him around the Welsh national side. The Club that put him in all the headlines with the goal against Man Utd. The Club with a manager who knows how to get the best out of him.

In my slightly biased opinion, the goods outway the negatives for him. He'd also be coming to a Club that the fans love him, and will sing his name come rain or shine.

It would be a chance to get some games upfront, score some goals and put himself in the shop window for a possible move, or get Coleman's attention and get him back upfront for Coventry.

Come home Freddy, you know it makes sense.

It's a lot simpler than that - he'd be coming home. Home is important to people like Freddy and his family.

Maybe if we were in a stable financial state and fighting for promotion with leeds and Charlton then maybe this could have some legs........but come on guys i know we are all depressed at the minute but fred coming back here and taking a massive paycut to possibly get involved in a relegation fight.......i dont think so.

As a thread starter on the above mentioned subject....I would like to clarify that I heard that he would be coming back in a swap loan deal. Not signing on, or being purchased.

I cant see why so many brows are being raised....He (if what i've heard is true) is coming in return for Barney who (it is is no secret) is being monitored by Championship clubs already. Seems like a very feasible option from Coventrys perspective to take the player on loan until the end of the season to see how he gets on....And what should they offer in return? hmmmm....The club you are loaning from happens to have something of a "crush" on one of your bench warmers....Seems a no-brainer to me....

Money wouldn't play a part here as I imagine we would continue to pay Barneys wages, and Coventry pay Freddys. Freddy spends time at the club he became a hit at to try and find the form that was so lethal 3 years ago, before returning to Coventry replensihed and raring to go again.

What happens at the end of the loan deal is beyond me....If Barney does well, and so does Freddy, I guess Coventry get both players. If Barney crashes and Freddy does well, I guess we both get our players back. If Barney and Freddy crash....Who knows?

I guess to some, a Freddy return seems like something that seemed impossible when he left us for Wolves. But as Boywonder2 says, he is not the same Freddy atm.

his best club was southend by far, most of his goals were here at roots hall and he loved it. he then moved to wolves and they barely gave him a chance, always on the bench! - now at coventry doing alright but still not getting as many games as he should. he's got money, i think theres rumours because he loved it here, if i had all the money like eastwood, i would move to a club where i get played and get goals, and that would be here at southend.

I think the whole Freddie coming back has been put to bed since Jabo arrived. I can't see us getting someone in for one month without a veiw to keeping them longer if they work out. If Tilly knew Fred was on the horizion why bother with Jabo and the admin costs of getting him in.

If Barney is going in the other direction, it evens out.

True dat...... would we rather have an out of form Fred or an in form Barney then becomes the question. I suppose if it's a choice between that and letting Barney go on a free then come on home Freddie

This rumour makes no sense! Why would we loan Barnard out for the last half of the season when he is out of contract in the summer? He would be worthless to us when the loan expired and Coventry, or whoever else, would just pick him up for nothing. If we were going to get rid in January, surely we'd look to sell rather than effectively give him away for nothing?

Makes more sense if looked at as a purchase of Barney with Freddy being loaned back though?

Fair point but I guess the question then is what is more valuable... Freddy for 6 months or a transfer fee for Barney? Put another way, would we be happy to effectively spank 6 figures (just guesswork) on Freddy for 6months?

Feel Barney will be off at end of season if not jan . Getting freddy in will give the whole club a lift plus get more people through the turnstiles , if ron pulls this off he will get every fan on his side and all his former sins will be forgotten .

Eastwood was in Liberty shopping center at Romford on Monday Shopping with 8-10 others. Looked like family and friends. They were being followed around by security.

Was the security there for their own protection? Or was it because they were suspicious of the Eastwoods?

I know which would be my guess ;)
