CHEMICO FC

Manager
Ive Managed football teams all my life and Freddy Eastwood would be first on my team sheet.I dont understand why he wernt playing at crewe? Spoke with his dad at Oxford and he said freddy is fit.

The team on Saturday was ok with me for an away game. The tactics deployed or failed to deploy are what went wrong. If it had put its best foot forward that team could have got a positive result. It does not matter who we put out wednesday if the tactics are wrong and the players application fails to live up to their ability.

freddy is fit.

Because Sturrock likes to play with one up front away and it has been successful.

He will play wednesday as we are now reverting to 442 at home.

I would go for a 4-3-3, including a midfield of Timlin, Grant and Ferdinand with Freddy and Hall either side of Bilel. No point wondering what might have happened, let's go for it from the start!

Why not use the formation and team that has seen us win our last 4 home games ?

433. No width. HOOF. No thanks.

Harris and Eastwood look good together and with them up front we played our best football in a long time and I expect thats how we will line up.

4-3-3 shouldn't affect the width if everyone knows their role (in fact it should be more effective as the defensive responsibility shouldn't be as great as playing LM/RM)? Hall and Freddy play wide of Bilel, pretty simple really. This game is a tad different to the last few we've played at The Hall hence why I wouldn't go into it thinking that the same tactics will serve as equally as well. I see the HOOF tactic was in force for the first 60mins on Saturday which is why I wouldn't keep Harris in the team.

443 you dont have wingers, so it will do nothing but affect width.

You say it was hoof ball for the first 60 minutes when we were effectively playing 433 (which depending on where Mohsni and Hall stand could be called451). This changed when we went 442, so why not go 442?
You want Mohsni to play a big target man role which would also encourage hoofing it.

4-5-1 and 4-3-3 is what we were playing , then we changed when Freddy joined and we started winning games again.

Reverting back to a formation that saw us drop out of the top 3, and which didnt work 2 days ago is not something I want to see.

4-3-3 is a formation largely dependent on having the correct players in the correct positions, playing Mohsni in one of the two wide positions is poor decision in my opinion as his attributes are better suited to the centre of the pitch (his work rate is better utilised for starters). I actually disagree with the hoof comment for Mohsni as his ability clearly suggests that playing it to his feet is just as effective as sending it aerially.

Whilst I would definitely want Freddy to start on Wednesday I wouldn't get too carried away with his contribution to date, the performances haven't been such that he is indispensable. I actually believe that Benyon could have come on and had as great an effect on Saturday, if anything the improvement in performance was more to do with changes in position.

So the improvement was down to changing from 433/451 to 442. Yet you dont want to play 442.

Mohsni is unable to stay in the correct position at any time, I dont know why you think he would be any different up front. He has also been very poor the last two games.

Freddy may not be indispensable but he does things other players cant, he can control the ball better than any, his passing and vision is better than any midfielder we have.

The problem we had on Saturday is the ball never reached Harris and Hall/Mohsni/Ferdinand rarely kept the ball and never used it to any effect. Freddy is the one player we can bring on who can do that and link up the midfield.

Agree with Chemico Eastwood has to play Wednesday and have no doubt he will in a 442 formation.

I was referring to players changing position rather than formation changes.

Re Freddy, yes if we had the player from several years ago then I would agree with all your points however from what I have seen he is a shadow of his former self and I simply do not have the confidence in him being the difference between success and mediocrity. I do however hope to be proved wrong on Wednesday night whatever formation he plays in.

The reason we started playing better was because we changed to 442. If it was because players moved about Id be intersted to know which ones ? Mohsni went up front and didnt make an impact.

As for Freddy, Id take him as a shadow of his former self over any of our other strikers. He has scored two and has one assist already. That doesnt even account for his general link up play which is far better than any ones. Its no coincidence we got back on track when he joined.

3 factors turned our fortunes around :

1) Changing to 442
2) Freddy joining
3) Mohsni returning

Mohsni has been poor the last two games, but is always a threat at set pieces. That just leaves 442 and Freddy both of which are vital Wednesday.

We use the same tactics for most home and then most aways. Agree with originail point I would always start Freddy if fit. The thought of leaving him out is to me unthinkable but I am not the manager.

Sure it will be the same 4-4-2 we usually use at home. The main issue is will the players like Mosh and Hall actually perform this time round.

Let's not get too wrapped up over our recent results:
2-0 (h) Macclesfield . . . finished 24th (bottom and relegated when we played them)
0-2 (a) Oxford . . . finished 9th (and were fading away several weeks before we played them)
3-0 (h) Barnet . . . finished 22nd (poor side who were fortunate to stay up)
0-0 (a) Torquay . . . finished 5th (the one stand out result out of the last five regular season games)
2-0 (h) Wimbledon . . . finished 16th (expected result against another bottom half team)

Freddy or no Freddy we should be beating these teams.
