Freddies apeal is a first for

Think the F.A are even taking the mickey out of us at the moment - this was published on their site.

"Eastwood will serve a three-match suspension plus an additional one-match suspension as the Commission were of the opinion that the claim was frivolous.

It is the first time that an extra suspension has been imposed for this reason

This really makes my blood boil, you see the likes of Wenger & Ferguson foot dragging and procrastinating on behalf of their "superstars", and nothing happens to them other than maybe a fine which will probably be petty cash to them.

Tilson should go to the David O'Leary School of Backing your palyer so he can learn to sat '' Freddy is not a violent man''.......

Tilson should be hauled across the coals for making such a stupid appeal that at the very least was going to rob us of the services of Eastwood for one extra league game instead of a cup game that the club clearly had no appetite for. Now we have lost the hotshot for a further league game to boot. Despite three good league results out of four so far this season, I am more than convinced that the Blue skies are increasingly being filled with storm clouds.

I'm not sure if it's Tilly to blame on this one. Would he have gone on record more than once saying Freddy was indeed at fault BEFORE the appeal was heard, still less on national TV, if he had made the appeal himself? Would he then have only put Freddy on the bench on Monday night when he could have played him from the start if he'd appealed to have him available? I don't know for sure, but I don't think it was Tilly who appealed, the events don't stack up.

I'm no conspiracy theorist but this genuinely makes no sense whatsoever, and there's some explaining to do by the club as to who made such a daft appeal and why, otherwise some of the ridiculous speculation that has flooded this board in the last few hours will continue.

Early season form would suggest we could do with him for the Oldham game, and now we won't have him.

No... wait a minute... this must have been what Scriv was talking about when he said that we would have a brand new media development that would be the world's first of its kind!

Yes, we did it first folks: we're the first club to have gained additional punishment - and get singled out on the FA's website for having been punished in this way - for bringing a frivolous appeal against a red card.

Scriv's right - I bet loads of other clubs will be following suit now that we've started the trend...

After 4 games?
Yes 4 games and the summer months of nothing. We are stretched on the field and now questions are being raised as to who asked for the Eastwood appeal. If it were Tilly then he is a prat, if it were not then he is obviously not in charge of all team matters and such undermining can only be detrimental. Tilly has talked many times of transfer targets etc and yet we appeared to entice very few trialists and none of any outstanding claims for a contract. That really concerns me. Are Southend United so undesirable? A Lg 1 side, under a supposedly respected up and coming manager, with a board talking up a new stadium and an increasing fan base. I can see now why we must be so undesirable. Not!
We apparently did not need to try too hard to secure further revenue from a cup run and indeed must have helped the bank balance with our exploits over the last two seasons.
The calibre of Spinner, Eagle, Barrett, Eastwood et al were happy enough to come to us when we were a club in turmoil and yet nothing of their stature appears to want to join the party when things are on the up? Yes I know Goater came. Sorry I am still unimpressed with that scintillating bit of transfer magic. I don't care if he should go on and score fifty goals for us this season, he was still a guy that only just saw us as a preference to retirement. Cole came too I hear you say. I am pleased but he still has a lot to do to fulfil the potential most of us want to afford him. I hope he does. I suggested late last season that our transfer activity, barring a few loanees, came to a sudden halt since RM spoke of buying the club from Delancey. Coincidence? Well the wheels on the transfer deals still seem to be well and truly off! I also stated that many of the supposed six figure targets that we were linked with were unrealistic and I firmly believe they were a smoke screen. I have nothing but respect for Tilly but I do hope he does not have handcuffs on because I feel it would be nothing but destructive. The club has the opportunity to build for the future and go forward. On recent activity I do not possess the faith that we are going the right way about consolidation let alone anything else. Unwarranted criticism? I hope so.

I can see Rabbloke's point, but I am inclined to believe that he is reading far too much into things. There is too much conspiracy and not enough hard fact in his reasoning. I certainly hope that I am right. Sure, the appeal was a bit stupid ,but I think that Tilly was worried that Goater wouldnt last 90 minutes and wanted to have FE in the wings to bring on if needed. The appeal backfired when the league gave out an additional ban. Perhaps SUFC thought that would never happen. I am becoming increasingly concerned that we need to bring in a loanee to cover up front, but I doubt very much that Tilly has had his hands tied.....he doesnt strike me as a man who would allow that to happen without speaking out.

No - because that assumes, incorrectly, that Tilson appealed the red card. He didn't.

rabbloke's view is very "glass half empty", but it's ultimately only an outlook, a view. Things might turn out very differently - and, hopefully, they will. We have moved a long way in the right direction so far - and it is, I think, taking scepticism too far into the realms of pessimism to think that all the progress that we have seen since the dark days of Alvin Martin and then Steve Wignall will not only grind to an abrupt halt, but has in fact been a sham (which could be the view one might form on reading rabbloke's post).

Well done to the FA for making us look like fools in front of the rest of the footballing community. And well done to whoever appealed for the same reason.

Words cannot express my dismay at the whole sorry affair.

As I have hinted at on previous posts, there needs to be an improvement in communication between the club and fans be it this appeal business, the triallists, Griemink not on the bench last Saturday, where was Gower on Monday?,etc.

Feels like we are very much in the dark and appreciate we don't want to reveal too much.

Mr.Scriven appears on here on a regular basis, as a relative newcomer, I am not sure if that is in an official capacity or not but noticeable by his absence in the last 24 hours.

I feel the poor lad must feel conflicted from time to time.

I think the ref should have a 4 year ban let alone 4 matches. Shocking all it needed was a talking to and booking at least. What happened to the right back that kicked out at freddy to make him go for him.............er nothing. I agree not very good by freddy to react but it was hardly violent.

Oh maybe we should go to the Welsh f.a theyre good at reversing these great descisions.

Scrivs probably hasn't had much time to come on here, due to 4 home games in two weeks, thats alot of programs he as to write for and put together, he has so much to do at the moment.

Gower - Was rested after taking a knock on Saturday v.s huddersfield

Griemink - was injured

Trialists - still on trial for the reserves.

hope that answers ur questions - although there the answers that are on here anyway somehwere lol

Thanks, I was going to say that Club Shop Steve does his best. Maybe you should apply for that job with Mr.Scriven?
Has the shop had a delivery this week? Still want a medium Nike polo.

prob not today - dunno as i'm off today, they had some kits in on monday - but yesterday orders and stock was followed up by the mangeress, so hopefully soon.

Yer, i did want that job with Scrivs, its what i want to do as a career, but i think he's after someone with a liitle more expirence then me, i dont posess much journalism expirence - part from the fact i go to uni aswell, but i have offered FREE help that he turned down.
