Freddie Sears

Omg what do Ipswich see in him, not even very good at Colchester and very overrated when at westham also:'(

In fairness he had 14 in 29 there this season. But I do agree he's a League One player at best. Ipswich could easily be in the Premiership next year and he's nowhere near that standard.

I was chatting to some Col Ewe fans at my wife's work do last week and they didn't seem to like Sears very much, which is a bit odd given his goals to game ratio in a struggling side. But then again, they are Col Ewe fans so they ARE a bit odd!

Delighted for Freddie, a firm fans favourite at West Ham, it was only a matter of time though that he was to leave us, as there was so much competition at the time. It was fantastic he scored on his debut at home against Blackburn in The Premier League for the club he grew up supporting.
I must say when I opened this thread, I was surprised to see that not only had he left Colchester but even more so that it was for Ipswich. as they're doing so well, but then again the boy knows where the net is. Having seen Ipswich's last two games on tv, it's clear that they can't rely only on Murphy to get them up. I'm delighted for him and hopes he fires Ipswich back up to prove a few ex West Ham coaches wrong. Surely good news for Shrimpers as Colchester must be wondering where on earth they're goals are gonna come from now on.
What was the fee?

Believed to be around £75k-150k, Sears was in the last year of his contract this season so I suppose they didn't have much choice but to cash in now, probably for a vastly reduced fee.

Only 24 so I'd guess Ipswich are hoping to find some untapped potential in him that their coaches can bring out, wouldn't expect him to be getting much time this season. If Ipswich don't go up they could lose some of their stars so he's possibly a contingency plan in case their season takes a turn for the worse.
