Freddie Eastwood

Well I told you the boy was class didnt I. Well you all know that now.

With regards to the transfer fee, cause he is only on loan I could see him being picked off by someone else unless he is being tied down now.

We dont need the money and have to sell, we have just developed our ground in a 800k deal and our board collectivly are worth a fair bit of bunce, Freddie is also tied down to a two year contract so unless he walks we hold a strong posistion for a good fee.

Freddie is an arrogant person and makes him a great striker cause its the streak you need to be good, only thing is he turned down Northampton on a perm cause he thought he was bigger and they were Favs for league.

Maybe he did turn down Northampton - but he chose to come here on loan so it doesnt look like he's turning us down on that basis...

I can believe that but I don't understand why he would come on loan to us if he thought he was bigger than us.

Also, I don't reckon we would have loaned him 'with a view to signing' if a) he wasn't interested in moving or b) we couldn't afford him.

Perhaps, having spent all that on the stadium, you found yourself a bit short on the cash

Whatever his feelings Southend are bigger than Grays so his future would definitely lie within a transfer somewhere. Also grays have just signed Tony Battersbey on a two year deal. Sounds as though they have already made plans that exclude Eastwood. Tilly should sign him. Odds are if we pay 100k and get a two to three year deal, we may well make a tasty profit on him when he moves on to bigger things. Mind you, with the team we have, if Eastwood continues to perform he may go on to much bigger things with us. Heres hoping.

i KNEW THAT COMMENT about being short of cash now would come up haha

The thing is loaning out for a 20 year old for a month isnt going to ruin his career, so even if he isnt interested in Southend it puts him in the "shop window" you have to think all the managers who will sit down tomorrow and watch GOALS ON SUNDAY or read his name in the tabloids.

no doubt he did well today, but its only his first game in league football. i dont think we will need to go to more than 50 k to get him

If he thinks he is bigger than Southend United Football Club then Grays or anyone esle can have him.

Its not worth ruining what seems to be a good dressing room atmosphere because of one little upstart.

If he wants to play for SUFC then every support would welcome him with open arms.

It would be weird for grays to send him out on loan if their is no chance of us signing him as they are losing their best strikers services for a month. So i would imagine stimpson does want to sell him however him scoring more goals will mean the price will go up and other clubs will come in for him. So its important that tilly signs him up ASAP.

I wouldnt imagine grays are in a position to refuse a big transfer fee as they are no where near as rich as the other local non league teams e.g hornchurch and canvey.

I didnt wanna rub anyone up the wrong way.

When we first see him play he scored and then he scored a hatful in his first away game, we all knew after a month he wouldnt stay that long and I am supprised he stayed as long as he did.

I am thankful for having him at Grays cause I seen one of the best talents in Non League.

No Bitterness from me at all. Freddie is class.

He seemed to be getting on with the lads. Looked like a solid sort of guy can't judge anything on one game, but I think he can do better than where Southend are at at the moment. It would be great if we could snap him up.

Oh yea I forgot Grays who?

With regards to our Finacial posistion we are very very comftable and I would say we have more £££ than Canvey, also just because we have less than Hornchurch doesnt mean we can still be held over a barrel.

To anyone 50-100k is alot of money but Grays will hold out for what they believe is a fair deal cause if you dont want him someone else will.

Well I can see alot of managers looking at him now. Freddie is the type of person who would happily go on loan to three or four clubs this year to get the best deal, situation for himself and why not??

Facts are

He is only on loan
We have him on a 2 year contract
A list of managers from the Prem to Hornchurch have been looking at him
He scored a Hatrick at a game that will be featured on TV and in every Tabloid tomorrow.

You must in your hearts hope you sign him before someone else does cause you even must think "others could be sniffing around"

Lets face it if we dont snap him up someone will .And he not just a goal scorer he was all over the pitch to use a saying of TILLYS he ran his socks off for his goals his team mates and a contract I hope

interesting what Tilly says on the official site about the arrangrment and if it becomes a permenant deal then there would be a minimal fee, unless Grays go back on there word.

Go on Ron snap Fredy up. Paul Bodin was at Roots Hall today obviously checking him out as he played very well for Swindon and they clearly have a vested interest.

I would imagine as we have him on loan, we would have first option? Plus, in Freddies mind, we are the club that gave him a chance in the football league... PLUSSS, we are more local than Swindon and Northants - so I'd say at the moment, we are in with more than a good shout...

Very interesting comments from Tilly about the 'deal' there seems to be. If we did sign him, i'd imagine it wont be a huge fee. It will be full of payments when he scores a certain amount of goals, makes a certain amount of appearances, sell on clauses etc ...

Although it's only been one game. He might actually be the first player for a long while who it might be worth spending a bit on, as there's a good chance we'd make a hefty profit on him.

He looks like the player we've needed for a long while. His 1st and 2nd goals summed him up, as soon as he saw Gray with the ball out wide he made a bee line for the six yard box. A very exciting talent by the look of it.

Ron Martin was on the pitch at the end and walked off talking to Tilly & Brush - you can imagine how that conversation went!!!

Looked very impressed didn't he! Just seen the goals on SSN and they are very much talking about Fredy but luckily dont mention that he's only on loan and just says he's making his Southend debut ...
