Francis' interview

Even though this is just words and you never know what to believe

Francis say's

We've got to play for ourselves, some of the lads are out of contract in the summer, and will be either looking to earn a contract somewhere else or here, especially some of the younger lads, I know I've got a year left on my contract, and I still want to play for this football club.

Whether you believe this or not, it is quite a nice thing to hear.

Straight back up!

Francis is quickly becoming a bit of a legend at the club.. and i think his loyalty should be rewarded.

I certainly agree!

If we manage to keep some of these players for next season, i.e. Francis, Grant, Moussa, Barret (won't leave) Macca, Mildenhall. We will have a seriously strong back bone next season.

And once we are promoted, they'll sign again ;)

Oh yeah also something else not so good, the playoffs aren't at Wembley next season, I forget why, but they aren't!

So damnn!

Automtic it is then :)

But yes, Francis without a doubt player of the season!

If he stays next season he'll win League 2 player of the year!

He has really come into his own this season, the lad is quality. He is one of very few (perhaps the only one?) whose future I'm not too worried about. i genuinely believe that he wants to stay here and I'm fairly sure that he's very much settled in the area too.

Hmmmmmmmm!

The only 2 I'd be reasonably sure will stay out of your list are Francis and Moussa.

Barrett will stay no doubt. Keep Franno and Grant if poss. The rest can go, Macca has been a disgrace, Herd has a good throw but is a poor defender, Moose is very inconsistent and Mildey has done ok but his kicking is **** poor.

Why do you think Mildy would stay after the way he has been treated by sections of fans. Also he has not renewed his rental on house and is moving back to Yeovil..;)

Do you think Barrett will leave then ?

I really don't think he will!

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he did leave.

Macca has been a disgrace. Speaks volumes that he was stripped of the vice captaincy. Not only has he been dog **** on the pitch, but he strikes me as being very unprofessional too. Great guy to have around when everything is rosy and no doubt good for team spirit in that situation, but not the sort of guy to have around when the chips are down. I don't think he's the kind of person to just 'get on with it' when things are bad and I think that in that situation, he's probably not too good for team spirit either. Wouldn't be too concerned if he left to be honest.

I disagree that Macca is a disgrace, what about the other 13 players that have been so inconsistent and **** all season ?

If I was you I'd watch out!

OBL is about!

I wouldn't be entirely devastated if Barrett left, to be honest...

He bleeds blue, yes, and it would be a shame to see him leave, but he's not the defender many profess him to be. For four consecutive seasons we've been disastrous defensively and there are only two constants: Barrett and Tilson.

A complete defensive overhaul would be a God send.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. OBL will defend him to the death and choose not to see his shortcomings, fair play, but I have been more than a little disappointed with him this season.

His body language is all wrong, he keeps popping off at his team mates, he's posting things that he shouldn't on Facebook, he hasn't looked like he can be bothered for a year........as I said, I'm sure he's great to have around when things are going well, but when things are bad or not going his way, I think he's quite the opposite.

I like Barrett. He doesn't seem quite the same as he was a few seasons back, but I think he's great if he has the right partner alongside him. But I think SUFC needs him to stay, he's so well-respected by the players, he commands respect, great in the dressing room and great for morale. Tilly would be devastated to lose him I think.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Barrett, I appreciate everything he's done for the club and nobody at the club commands and deserves more respect than him, but the fact remains he's been integral in a defence which has been leaky at best, woeful at worst.

Good teams are built from the back and, until we address these issues, we're going nowhere.

For four consecutive seasons Barrett hasn't had a suitable partner alongside him. This season he hasn't had a permanent partner alongside him at any point. How is he supposed to hold a backline together when he has a new person next to him every other week?

This is the view that I support. It's not just a decnet partner he needs - it's a decent TALL partner. I think he feels more at ease with a taller partner next to him. He was brilliant next to Prior, and remember when Clarke played superbly alongside Dervite with Barret shifted out to left back last season? If Barrett had been the one playing alongside Dervite, I can guarantee he'd have played as well as Clarke did.

I completely agree. Peter Clarke is no better than Adam Barrett. The signing of Clarke instead of a tall, commanding defender, back in 2006 was a disaster and Barrett's reputation is one of the many things which suffered as a result. Alongside a suitable partner he'd be fine.
